Yang Cheng is the inheritor (传承人) of tie-dye (扎染). He learned the skill 【小题1】 his mother in the 1980s.

To tie-dye, you first need 【小题2】 use threads (线) to tie your cloth together. Then you put the cloth into the dye. As the cloth is dyed, some parts become dark blue, while other parts have a lighter color.

At the same time, Yang has studied tie-dye in other countries, such as Japan, India 【小题3】 France. He once made two sets of tie-dyed wedding dresses. 【小题4】 took him two years to complete his work! He used almost all the skills of tie-dye.

More than 100,000 people 【小题5】 learned the skill so far. Now Yang teaches tie-dye in schools, communities and companies.

Some might worry that tie-dye will be replaced by machinery dyeing. But Yang said, “Machines can’t replace our creative hands.”

China is a nation with a rich culture in handwriting (书法). “Even though the computer is 【小题1】 (wide) used today, Chinese people should not forget the skill of writing with hands,” said a Chinese government officer.

So far, the computer 【小题2】 (become) a very useful tool to help people to write. As people use computers more often than before, many people have forgotten how to write Chinese characters (字). People often makes plenty of 【小题3】 (mistake) in writing.

The Chinese character test shows that nowadays, many college students’ handwriting has got even 【小题4】 (bad). Many college students do not know how to make words or sentences in Chinese character in the right way. Not only kids but also many adults have met 【小题5】 same problem. They might be able to tell the general form of a certain character. However, 【小题6】 you ask them to spell out the character correctly, they can’t. On the other hand, they can type out the character on a computer without thinking 【小题7】 (two).

At present, China is trying its best 【小题8】 (solve) this problem. With the use of certain technologies, teachers can write their teaching contents (内容) and the students can reply by writing in the nation language teaching course. We can also write letters to our relatives and friends instead of sending messages. This can help us practice handwriting. Besides, there are many ways that we can try.

The sweetest memory of my childhood is about a round table. When I was still little, my whole family would get together on different traditional 【小题1】 (festival) to have dinner. We kids would be sitting around or playing hide-and-seek under the table while the grown-ups were having a 【小题2】 (discuss).

When I got a bit older, my aunt brought back her boyfriend and my grandma happily added another seat to the table. It seemed a little more crowded, but we all felt much 【小题3】 (close) to each other.
