A little stream ran down from a high mountain far, far away through many villages and forests, until it reached a desert. The stream then thought, “I’ve been through countless difficulties. I should have no problem crossing the desert!” But as she started her journey, she found herself slowly disappearing into the sand. After many tries, she still failed and was very unhappy. “Maybe I can’t reach the ocean in the end,” she said sadly to herself.

At this time, a deep voice came, “if a breeze（微风）can cross the desert, so can a river.” It was the voice of the desert. But the little stream replied, “That’s because a breeze can fly, but I cannot.” “That’s because you can’t give up what you are. If you like to do it, and let yourself evaporate（蒸发）into the breeze, it can take you across, and you can reach the ocean,” said the desert.

“Give up what I am now and disappear into the breeze? No! No!” The little stream could not accept this idea.

After all, she had never experienced anything like it before.

“The breeze can carry the vapor（水蒸气）across the desert and let it leave as rain. The rain will form a river again to continue its course,” explained the desert very patiently.

“ And whether you are a river or vapor, your nature never changes,” continued the desert. Hearing this, the little stream rushed into the open arms of the breeze, which carried her to the next stage of her life.

The course of our lives is like the experience of the little stream.

1. Where did a little stream run from?

We can remember some important times in our lives. Some things have become good memories. The memories are always in the corner of our mind.

When I was in a kindergarten(幼儿园), I had many toys and friends. They made me laugh and cry. The teachers taught us many songs and games. We played all day. Although we did not know what learning was at that time, we were learning every day.

When I was in a primary school, I was excited to learn school subjects. Nearly every subject caught my attention. However, my favorite subject was science. I remembered on the first day our science teacher told us the sun was like a big fire ball. We were quite surprises and kept our mouths open. We began to wonder at the secret of nature. Later many other things came to our ears. We began to learn carefully.

When I was ten years old, I began to read newspapers, keep a diary, visit museums and make many friends. Every day was something new, interesting and exciting.

Now I am in the middle school. Each day is new to me. Happily, I am still learning. It is like a journey to me. I have learned a lot, but there’s still a long way for me to go. I hope to become a learned(有学问的) person some day.

Once, a group of boys decided to play a soccer game. Each one of them would bring something for the game. So one would bring the ball, another would bring the whistle(哨子), others would bring the corner flags, and so on.

But before the game started, they had to choose the head of the team. They decided that the boy who had brought the most important thing would do that. But they couldn't decide which thing was the most important. So they thought they could start playing with all the things, and threw them away gradually and the one left was the most important one.

The first thing they threw away was the whistle, because the referee(裁判) could just shout instead. As time went by, they threw away all the things away and used other things instead. They went on playing until they used a tin(罐头盒)instead of the ball.

At this moment, the boys realized that all the things could be thrown away, but the team spirit was the most important. They should work together to make the game a great one. So they started to play again with all the things they had brought there.

No one thought about who was playing better or worse. They just concentrate on having fun and improving their game. It was really a great game.
