One day, Tom’s teacher, Miss Mak, had a class meeting. “There will be a Flag Day next Saturday. Does anyone want to join this meaningful event?” asked Miss Mak. Tom was interested in raising money for homeless children but he was too shy to talk to strangers (陌生人), so he kept quiet in his seat.

“Tom, you haven’t sold flags before,” said Miss Mak. “ Would you like to have a try?”

Tom was hesitant, but he finally said yes.

On the Flag Day, Tom and Angela sold flags in a busy street. “Excuse me, could you please buy...?” said Angela to the first person she met. The man smiled and put five dollars into Angela’s collection bag. Then she said thanks and gave a flag to the man. “I did it!” said Angela happily.“It’s your turn now.” Soon, Tom saw a young woman walking to him. The young woman was smiling and there was some money in her hand. She asked, “Are you selling flags for Fund for the Homeless Children?” Tom’s face became red and said yes. Then the young woman made the donation and Tom gave her a flag. “You made it!” laughed Angela.

In the next hours, Angela and Tom sold flags quickly. At last, their collection bags were so heavy that they had to hold them with both arms. They felt very proud (自豪的).

I live in a very over populated beach area in the Los Angeles and I love the beautiful sights. But because of many people, lots of things are easy to be out of order, and sometimes it’s also easy to become angry. Today was a day I wish I did not get out of bed. I mean that if I did not have to wake up and deal with every day, it would have been wonderful.

I had a cup of coffee this morning and that was my meal for breakfast, not healthy I know. Anyway, my stomach was sounding like a truck. So, I jumped in my car and decided to buy some food.

I was in line at Taco Bell and the line was like a long snake! Finally I got to place my order, but a young girl in nice clothes pulled in and was stuck in such a way-that unless I moved for her, she wouldn’t be able to get out. So I backed up and waved her into my place in the front of the line.

I was surprised that this young girl did not say thanks. I was a little unhappy about it because I thought that I had done something nice for a change. After the girl received her food and drove away, I pulled into the ordering spot, not mad but hungry, and the employee said, “Hi, that girl just paid for your food.”

That food was the most satisfying mourishment (营养品) my body had ever taken! If just by chance you are that person who bought my food, I should say “Thank you!”
