France is in Western Europe. It is a country with many beautiful places.

Paris is the capital of France. Here you will find many famous places of interest such as the Eiffel Tower. You can go to the Louvre Museum if you like art. The most famous street in Paris is the Champs-Elysees. This is the place to go if you want to visit some shops and department stores.

France is very famous for its wine. There are many vineyards in the centre of France and farmers grow grapes to make excellent French wine.

The south of France lies on the coast, and it is famous for its wonderful beaches. A French town by the sea is the fantastic place for a summer holiday, but if you want to visit France in winter, you can try skiing on the mountains in the French Alps.

Annie always loved the state of Hawaii. She read many books about Hawaii and studied Hawaii at school. What she liked most was the beautiful beaches. A few weeks went by, and Annie’s mom got a call from the travel company, Leisure Time. They told her that Annie won the trip to Hawaii. “WOW!” cried Annie as her mom told her about the trip she had won. “I just can’t believe they chose my entry form, I will start to pack,” laughed Annie. How lucky Annie is! If you want to achieve your dream, try your best to make it, no matter how tiny the chance is.

For Miller, an 80-year-old man, it’s a chance of a lifetime. Miller is a part of a group of around 60 Frenchmen who are on a bus journey along the ancient Silk Road. About this journey, he says, “I have been deeply interested in the Silk Road since I was a child. But now I finally have a chance to experience it.”

The two month bus journey will take the group through France, Russia and other 4 European countries. They will then enter China from the country’s western part. It will be an unforgettable memory for them.

Nearly half of the 13,000-kilometre trip will be inside China. From Xinjiang in the west to Shanghai in the east, the French visitors will see more than 20 Chinese cities. “We have managed the trip of the Silk Road for around 10 years. An increasing number of people, not only from French-speaking countries, have been joining us,” says Liu Guoqiang from China Tours.

Almost 30 million foreigners travelled to China in 2019, and about 5 million of them were from Europe. Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai and the Yangtze River are traditional Chinese travel destinations for European tourists. Speaking of where he wants to go, Miller says, “compared with modern cities, the culture in western China attracts me more.”

As Shi Xiang, head of China Tours, says, “Being a new brand to attract foreign visitors, the Silk Road is good for people to know more about China, especially the northwestern part of the country.”
