How many seasons do you live in a year? Do you know the North Pole(北极)? Near the North Pole, there are only two seasons: winter and summer. In winter, nights are long. For more than two months, you can't see the sun, even at noon. In summer, days are long. For more than two months, the sun never sets and there is no night at all.

The temperature(温度) is very low near the North Pole. In summer the temperature is below(低于)0℃, so people there wear warm clothes all year round. They make their clothing from the fur(皮毛)of animals. They also use the fur to make coats, hats and even boots.

When the weather is very cold, plants cannot grow. So people there have to build their houses with fur, earth, stone or snow. When they go out to catch or kill animals, they live in tents. When they move, they take their tents with them. Sometimes, they build houses with snow. You may think that these houses must be cold. In fact, they are very warm and safe.

Winter is a wonderful time of year filled with holidays and fun, but cold temperatures can make it difficult to keep warm in winter. 【小题1】

Consume (消耗) hot food and drinks. There’s a reason why everyone makes soup in the winter, and that’s because it warms your body up. 【小题2】 Remember to have at least one hot meal a day that’s high in carbs (碳水化合物).

Keep hand and foot warmers. Hand and foot warmers are single-use packages (一次性暖贴) that produce heat when they’re exposed to air. 【小题3】 The packets reach a temperature of about 57℃ for a few hours. But be careful when using it—don’t put it on your skin directly, which will burn yourself easily.

【小题4】 Run your bath or shower to the hottest temperature you can handle. Spend 10—30 minutes just relaxing in the water to bring your body temperature up. Not only does a hot bath or shower make you warm, but it also adds wet to the air to help keep your skin from drying out.

Work out for 20—30 minutes to warm up. Perform your exercises in your home so you don’t have to go outside. Do simple exercises like push-ups, sit-ups, or jumping rope. 【小题5】 Wear long shirts and pants while you work out, so that your sweat doesn’t disappear and it won’t cool you down.

根据材料内容,从下面五个选项中选出能填入文中空缺处的最佳选项,使文章意思通顺、内容完整。
A.Take a warm bath or shower.
B.Working out helps raise your body temperature.
C.Open the outer packaging and shake the inside packet.
D.Pair your meal with a hot drink to feel nice and warm throughout the day.
E.Here are some suggestions that will help you keep yourself warm at home.
