The morning started with a heavy rain. There were puddles of water everywhere. The street was filled with people carrying umbrellas. Children were going to school in their colorful raincoats. There were many vehicles on the road. Suddenly，everyone heard a crash.

They looked towards the direction of the crash. To their horror，they saw a motorcyclist lying on the road. His motorcycle was several meters away from him. There was a red car with a smashed headlight. The driver rushed out to help the injured motorcyclist whose left leg was covered in blood.

Soon，a crowd gathered at the scene. Someone called the police. A few minutes later，a police car followed by an ambulance，arrived. The motorcyclist was placed on a stretcher and the ambulance took him to hospital. The police took down the number plates of the vehicles and the names of the witnesses（目击证人）. The police also helped to clear the traffic jam.

Mr. Evans lives in a city. He was a math teacher three years ago. He taught well and his students liked him. So he decided to work in the middle school all his life. But a terrible accident changed his fortune (命运). One spring he took his class to visit a place of interest. The children saw a lot of interesting things and had a good time there. But on their way to school, their bus was hit by a truck because the young driver was drunk (醉的). Five students died and more than half of the children were injured in the accident. He didn’t know how it had happened and was very sad about it and after he came out of hospital, he left the school and became a policeman. He tried his best to stop the drivers from breaking the traffic regulations (违反交通规则). He worked hard and was strict with the drivers. So they were afraid of him.

One afternoon it was very hot. Mr. Evans was on duty. He was standing at the crossing and watching the traffic. Suddenly he saw a car rushing towards the crossing. It ran so fast that it almost hit a man on a bike. He stopped it at once and saw a girl in it. “Show your license to me, Madam,”said Mr. Evans. The girl handed her bag to him and said: “Please look for it in it. I can’t see anything without glasses.”

My name’s Nick. Last summer I went on holiday with my sister, Kim, and my parents. We got up early in the morning because we were going by plane. We got everything ready the night before. When Dad woke me up, I was very tired, and I didn’t eat any breakfast because I wasn’t hungry.

Then we all got in the car and dad started to drive to the airport. It was very dark and we couldn’t see the road at all. Suddenly, there was a loud noise because Dad hit the car in front of us. We went fast, so it wasn’t a bad accident (事故), but the man in the other car was very angry and shouted at Dad. I was afraid and my sister started crying. The man asked for our address and Dad wrote it down for him on a piece of paper. Then Dad started driving again, very slowly this time.

When we got to the airport, we were late. Mum said “We miss (错过) the plane now!” She was very angry too. Poor Dad! But when we got inside the airport, Mum found that our plane was still there. She was happier then. So we went to the airport café and waited to go on our holiday. And it was the best holiday ever!
