There was a pilot（飞行员） and four people in a small plane．Suddenly there was something wrong with the machine while it was flying in the air．The plane began to fall down．The pilot told the people there were only four parachutes （降落伞）．They all became worried and started to make excuses．

"I must go，"said the pilot，taking one of the parachutes and jumped out．The first person stood up，"I'm a doctor，"he said．"I help people live longer and I save lives．"He took a parachute and jumped out．

The next person said，"I must have a parachute．I am a very clever person．I have to attend an important match．I know I will win the game because I'll be the cleverest person there．"He picked up a pack and jumped out．

Two men were left---an old businessman and a young mountain climber．At this time the plane was going down fast．The businessman said，"Young man，I am old but you are still young．You take the last parachute．"The young mountain climber smiled．"Don't worry，"He said．"We can both jump out because there are still two parachutes．Just now the clever man jumped out with my backpack．moke and they couldn't jump out from the plane

It was the end of June and school was finished.

“It seems like the end of everything, doesn’t it?” said Diana.

She started crying.

“Stop it or I’ll cry again. I don’t think I will pass this exam,” said Anne.        

“Yes, you will. I want to go with you. Imagine how much fun it will be.”

“Yes, but I will have to study a lot. It was so nice of your Aunt Josephine to ask me to stay at her house,” said Anne.

“You’ll write to me, won’t you?” asked Diana.

Anne went to Aunt Josephine’s house on Monday.

On Wednesday, Diana went to the post office. There was a letter from Anne.

It’s Tuesday night and I’m writing this from Aunt Josephine’s house. Last night I was really lonely in my room without you.

This morning I went to the Academy. There were lots of students. People were doing funny things before the exam. One boy was talking to himself.

Then we went into the exam. Some of the girls looked so relaxed. My heart was beating so quickly. Then we did the English exam. Diana, I felt like I did four years ago when I asked Marilla about staying at Green Gables. In the afternoon we had a history exam. I think I did OK. But Diana, tomorrow we have geometry. I am worried about that.

The exams finished and Anne went home on Friday evening. She was very tired and happy. Diana was waiting.

“It’s wonderful to see you. I miss you. Did you do well?” asked Diana.

“I think so, except with geometry. I don’t think I passed. It’s so good to be back. Green Gables is the best place in the world,” said Anne.

“When do you get the results?” asked Diana.

“In two weeks. They’ll be in the newspaper. Two weeks of waiting,” said Anne.

“You’ll pass. Don’t worry.”

“I want to pass with a high score or not at all,” said Anne. She seemed angry.

Diana understood that Anne wanted a high score than Gilbert.

Anne and Gilbert were in competition with each other. They saw each other but didn’t speak. It was like they were strangers. Anne secretly wished that she was friends with Gilbert again. But she also wanted to get a higher score than him in the exam. Everyone thought Gilbert was going to get the highest score. She wanted to make Matthew and Marilla proud. Well mostly Matthew.

The results were late. Finally after three weeks of waiting, they arrived. Diana came running to the house with a newspaper.

“Anne, you’ve passed. You and Gilbert. You’re equal firsts,” said Diana.

Anne took the newspaper. Yes, their names were at the top of a list of two hundred pupils.

Vanilla is my best friend. She is tall. She is a cute girl with beautiful big eyes. But she always hides them behind a pair of black glasses. Why? Because she can’t see and she thinks that others may make fun of（取笑）her.

Amy is our English teacher. She is from America. She is tall with long hair. The students in our class all like her, because she knows each of us very well and she cares about（关心）us. After knowing Vanilla’s problem, she wants her to learn something.

On Sunday, Amy asks Vanilla to go shopping with her. So they go to a busy street. On the street corner, they stop.

“Where are we, Miss Brown?” asks Vanilla.

“We are on a street corner. And there are many people here. I will describe（描述）them to you,” says Amy.

“Why?”

“You will know. Here comes a boy. He looks happy with his parents, but he has to speak to them with gesture（手势）. Also, there is a woman sitting there. She is playing the guitar, but she can’t see.”

“I get it, Miss Brown,” Vanilla says happily.
