Have you ever wondered what PE classes are like in other countries? In China, PE tests are required to graduate from both middle school and high school. To get good grades on the PE tests, Chinese students will need to practice running as well as doing sit-ups and pull-ups(引体向上). However, the way that PE classes work in US high schools is different.

In my high school, we are required to take two terms of PE to graduate. We play real sports during PE classes, such as basketball and volleyball. There are also some typical American sports that we often play, such as kickball and dodgeball.

I didn’t know the rules of kickball and dodgeball when I first came to the US. The teacher allowed me to sit on the sidelines and watch how other students played them in order to let me find out the rules.

We can learn some useful life skills in PE classes as well. Last year, I learned how to do CPR(心肺复苏), which is a life-saving skill. We were also taught how to provide first aid(帮助) to someone who is badly hurt. These skills are a large part of the final grade for the PE class in my high school. Self-defense(自卫) is also taught in PE class. This includes some taekwondo(跆拳道) and karate(空手道) skills, as well as Chinese Kung fu. It is practical.

I prefer PE classes in the US to the ones in China. I think they are more fun and useful. What do you think?

A primary teacher decided to have her class play a game. The teacher told each student to bring a bag with a few potatoes in it to school. Each student would “name” their potatoes after people they did not like. As a result,（A）potatoes would be different according to how many people each student disliked.

The next day, all the students brought their potatoes to school. Some kids had just one or two potatoes, while others had as many as five or six. The teacher then told（B）her students that they would have to carry their potatoes with them wherever they went for one week.

Several days passed（C）______. Some of the students started to complain, as their potatoes began to rot（糜烂）and smell bad. The students who carried more potatoes also complained about（D）他们的包有多么重. One week later, the game was over. The teacher asked, “How did you feel about carrying around your potatoes for a week?”

The students complained again. The teacher simply smiled and said, “This is what（E）it is like to carry hate in your heart. You have to carry it with you wherever you go. If you can’t stand carrying rotten potatoes for one week, can you imagine（F）________ hate in your heart for a whole lifetime?” It can be very tiring to carry hate in your heart for a whole lifetime. Forgive others and make your heart light.

I was waiting outside the examination building. My son was taking his exam. When the students came out, they were discussing the exam. It was really crowded and noisy there. Suddenly I saw a boy with a look of fear on his face. He didn’t speak to any other student. He noticed me and then gave me a look. I smiled at him and walked towards him. I started to talk with him, “You will do well in the exam.” He said that he was always a top student in his class but his parents were busy and didn’t care about him. I told him that he should study for himself because good education would really help him in the future. Hearing this, the boy said that he would try to overcome all the difficulties in his life.

A few days later I met the boy outside the examination building again. He looked very different this time. 当他看见我时，他给了我一个大大的微笑。He walked to me and said happily, “I did well in the exam. Thank you for what you said to me last time.” It was a great moment for me.
