The Great Wall of China, the longest wall in the world, runs across north China like a huge dragon. It winds its way from west to east, across deserts, over 【小题1】, through valleys, till at last it reaches the sea. The Great Wall has a history of over 2,000 years. People in China called it “The Ten-Thousand-li Great Wall”. 【小题2】, it is more than 6,000 kilometers long, 6-7 meters high and 4-5 meters 【小题3】. In most places it is wide enough for five horses or ten men to walk side by side along the top.

It was very difficult to build such a great wall over the wild 【小题4】 any modern machines. People worked day by day. Many of 【小题5】 had to work on the wall far away from their homes. They carried earth in baskets by hand and pulled heavy stones with 【小题6】 over their shoulders. Their living conditions were so terrible 【小题7】 thousands of men died. After the People’s Republic of China was founded, the government fixed parts of the Wall. On both sides of it new cities 【小题8】, and deserts became grasslands or forests. The old Great Wall took on a new look.

Today the Great Wall has 【小题9】 a place of interest to the people all over the world. Many people have come to know the famous Chinese saying, “He who does not reach the Great Wall is not a 【小题10】 man.”

I have a busy but happy life. From Monday to Friday, I have to get up at half 【小题1】 six. I have breakfast with my parents and my sister Paula. I like hamburgers, 【小题2】 my sister likes milk and eggs. My parents like 【小题3】, too.

At noon, Paula and I have lunch at school. In the afternoon, we go to different 【小题4】. I go to the science class and then play basketball. Paula goes to the art class and then 【小题5】 the violin.

When we go home, we usually do our homework 【小题6】. Then we help Mom do the dishes and clean the room quickly. After that, it’s time for us to do our 【小题7】 things. I often read books about science for two hours. Paula wants to 【小题8】 a musician, so she often practices the violin.

On weekends, Paula and I 【小题9】 get up early to exercise. In the afternoon, we play games in the park or visit our grandmother. Look! What is our grandmother doing? Oh, she is 【小题10】 fruit salad for us now. It’s great run!

It’s Saturday today. There is no school. Lingling 【小题1】 at seven thirty. She 【小题2】 her favorite dress. She looks very nice. Then she eats breakfast at eight o’clock. After that she goes to see her grandparents 【小题3】. Lingling’s grandparents are really glad to see her and 【小题4】 for her. After lunch, she helps grandparents wash the dishes. Lingling is a good girl.
