Gabriel Muniz, an 11-year-old Brazil kid, was born without feet. Although his family thought he would have serious difficulties living a normal life, he started walking before he was one year old. His mother would go after him, expecting him to keep falling, but he never fell. It took him a while to make the jump from walking to playing football, but he did make it. And, in fact, there’s nothing he loves more than playing football. In his school, the skillful youngster(年轻人) is not only the best player in his school team but also the captain of his gym team.
He knows that his disability means he’ll never be able to play for a professional(专业的) football team. So Gabriel is hoping that football will one day become a Paralympics (残疾人奥运会的) sport. He proved to everyone there he could go head to head with any other boy. Watching him play is unbelievable. He’s fast and he’s got a big bag of tricks—he’s very skilled and he does everything he can to copy his hero, Messi so much that he is invited to go to Spain to meet his hero Messi and show his talent in the Barcelona Football Club.
His coach says he is proving the disability only exists(存在) inside our heads and he is challenging(挑战) the social norms.

I know that changing schools was a big thing for me. It helped me to be stronger and open towards meeting new people. Sometimes it feels like everybody is already in a group. This makes it harder for someone else to go in. But, it is not that hard. Actually many people know that you are from another country. They feel curious about your “history”, and would often think you are a different man.
Another thing that can produce a shock to me is the sudden change of weather. During the last couple of days, there was an ice-snow storm. It was the biggest in 15 years in the state of Missouri. It was raining ice, really, and you could hear sounds outside the window like little pieces of rocks hitting it, of course it was the ice. It startedaccumulatingso heavily that the University had to close down for two days, and it got worse when it started snowing after the ice storm.
As international students, you may at times find something very difficult, but hey, anyone can beat and overcome it to make studying aboard an unforgettable experience.

My biology teacher,Mr.Kwak, divided us into three groups and asked us to play a game about natural selection(选择)and how birds find food.
He gave the first group one spoon per person, the second group forks and my group"knives.I thought we were going hunting,so knives might work better.Surprisingly,he told us to pick up the beans on the grass with our tools.
When the game started all of us ran to the grass area.We squatted(蹲)down and looked for beans. It was hard to pick up something that small, especially from the grass .
When I almost fired a bean,it dropped back to the ground. When I finally picked up several beans.one of my friends ran into me.I couldn’t keep my balance and fell over. All my beans dropped to the ground!Just at that moment,Mr.Kwak called us back.I had to leave the game and of course I got a bad result.I couldn’t help thinking that if I were a bird living on Galapagos Island,I would be dead soon.
The fun game made me realize that natural selection is redly competitive(竞争的).Everyone is trying his or her best to—survive.
