What to do if you don’t feel popular?

Try to take part in activities.Call your friends.Plan to do something.The worst feeling is staying home alone,because it makes you feel even more lonely.

Try to make new friends.Choose friends carefully,not just because you think they’re popular.And remember,making good friends takes time.Choosing popular people to be friends with is OK,if they are nice.

Be yourself(保持独立).If you want to become friends with someone who’s popular,don’t make yourself into someone you are not just to impress that person.

Be nice.Be friendly.Be outgoing.But don’t overdo it! Talk to trusted friends if you are feeling really bad.Or you might want to write it down in a journal(日志) or diary.

Do something special for yourself.You could take pictures of your friends,or collect their school pictures,and take a collage(拼贴画)to hang on your wall.This will remind you when you are feeling unpopular,that you really do have friends.

Think up your own ideas.These suggestions might not work for everyone.

Talk to your parents,or another adult who will listen to you and perhaps can help.Talk to your friends.Maybe they have had problems with the same teacher,too.

Don’t give the teacher a reason to have problems with you.Do your work,complete your task,attend the class and take notes seriously.Maybe you just need to give the teacher a chance.

Try to find out what the problem is.

When patients take heart medication at night, they may prevent a heart attack in the morning.

Whenever the exam season comes, stress may come along. Here are some ways that have helped me and my friends through this season.

When the stress of exams is really hitting me, I stop and take a walk. I usually borrow my neighbors’ dogs and walk for about fifteen minutes. Many boys would simply choose to run for a while, or play ball games. Having some sports drives away your stress easily most of the time.

And if you find music helpful, give it a go. Listening to your favorite songs will surely make you happy. The best thing about this is that you don’t have to go anywhere.

But if you are a book lover just like me, read a book you like for half an hour. Reading can take you to places you’ve never been to. Putting yourself into a new world helps you forget your stress in this world for a little bit.

To Have a Not-to-do List

Like most people, you probably have a to-do list to help you finish a task. However, I would also suggest you make a not-to-do list. This list works well with the to-do list and it might be even more important. Let me explain.

This is Mike. He loves video games and plays them every day. But he also has an important exam coming up. So Mike puts studying on his to-do list. That day, Mike picked up the books and studied for half an hour. Then he took a short break and played some games. However, he got so into the game that he played for three hours.

The next day, Mike took on the challenge of studying in a different way. He decided to make a not-to-do list as well. And what he wrote down was, “No video games until 7:00 pm.” Mike went to study, did it for half an hour, and then took a break. However, he didn’t get on his computer like the day before because he didn’t allow himself to play at that time. Instead, he drank a glass of water. Then he returned to studying for three hours more on that day.

Mike realized that having no restrictions (限制) was the problem. He was always choosing between work and free time. Because enjoying himself was an easier choice, hardly any work got done as a result. So Mike made a not-to-do list.

Sometimes what you choose not to do matters more than what you decide to do. We shouldn’t just limit our “bad” behaviors but our “good” behaviors as well. For example, practicing the piano could be considered a good habit. But when you have other more important things in the moment, the piano becomes nothing more than a distraction (注意力分散). However, there’s one thing that should never end up on your not-to-do list. That is to learn something new every day.
