Here, I’d like to talk about our experiences about Garbage sorting (垃圾分类). In October 2016, the government chose our neighborhood to be part of a pilot (试点的) program for garbage sorting. To help the program run 【小题1】 (success), we set up a volunteer team. I am one of the 【小题2】 (volunteer). Several of us, however, questioned whether we could lead people in the building to change their habits.

We began with the usual ways. We handed out notices around the neighborhood. We also went door to door to tell people how 【小题3】 (deal) with the garbage. 【小题4】 , they made many mistakes. For example, many didn’t know wet rubbish meant food waste. Instead, they thought it meant rubbish that was wet. Some people 【小题5】 refused to sort their garbage.

As a result, we volunteers had to do lots of sorting ourselves. At the same time we went around explaining the rules. We kept 【小题6】 (talk) to those who refused to sort their garbage. We let them know we had sorted their garbage for them. It was a matter of time and patience (耐心). We believed they would 【小题7】 (final) change their mind.

We didn’t get success in changing people’s mind 【小题8】 six months later. People in my building began sorting their garbage. Some people even joined us to help us. I hope everyone knows garbage sorting is 【小题9】 (true) good for them.

While St Clare was walking into town, he saw some men fighting, who were all drunk, and it was going into a worse situation. He tried to s【小题4】 them. One of the men had a knife. When St. Clare tried to take it, the man wounded him.

Tom was asleep when there was a rushing knock on the door and several men carried St Clare inside. He was unconscious (昏迷) because of the pain and the 1【小题5】 of blood. Tom hurried up to call the doctor. Miss Ophelia quickly prepared a bed and tried to wake St Clare.

The doctor arrived and the look on his face said that there was no h【小题6】. He cleaned and bandaged the wound, and said that St Clare needed to rest.

St. Clare lay with his eyes half open, but it was evident that he struggled with painful thoughts. After a while, he laid his hand on Tom’s, who was kneeling beside him, he said w【小题7】 “Tom! Poor you!”

“What, my kind master? ” said Tom.

St Clare held Tom’s hand. “I'm dying. Please pray for me!”

“If you would like a clergyman (牧师),…” said Tom.

St. Clare shook his head, and said again, “Pray!”

And Tom prayed with all his heart for the soul (灵魂) that was 1【小题8】 . When he finished, St. Clare looked at him and took his hand again. The black hand and the w【小题9】 one held each other with an equal clasp. Then he closed his eyes forever.

Tears came down. Tom knew that St. Clare’s death would make things very dangerous for him and the other slaves. Now they would belong to Marie, who was always cold, and things were going to be very d【小题10】 from before.

The sky got darker and darker and the moon was gone.

A short video which showed a delivery(外卖) driver was eating a cake in tears on the side of the road touched many people on the Internet.

On 【小题1】 (四月) 15th, the delivery driver went to get a cake for his customer at a bakery. He was 【小题2】 (惊讶的) that the order was prepared for him. He went back to check with the shop assistant. They 【小题3】 (打电话) the customer together and learned the cake was indeed for him. The note wrote, “The cake is a 【小题4】 (礼物) for the delivery person. Life is not easy, please take good care of yourself.”

He 【小题5】 (感觉) really happy because it happened to be his birthday. When he 【小题6】 (吃) the cake, he couldn’t help crying. Though the delivery driver was not going to celebrate his birthday, this special cake brought him 【小题7】 (希望) and warmth.

During the COVID-19 outbreak, delivery drivers played really important roles. They helped 【小题8】 (医生) to get meals and helped people to get medicine and other 【小题9】 (日常的) necessities.
