Thank you for all your hard work last weekend raising (筹款) money for Sunny House Old People’s Home. We all _________ a great time and it was nice to see a lot of new volunteers! Here is what we did last weekend.

On Saturday, some _________ went to Sunny House Old People’s Home. Fiona and Tom played chess _________ some of the old people. David, John and Alice made tea for _________. Sam played the piano and Sally washed the ladies’ hair.

In the evening, we put on a charity _________ for the old people. It made them very _________. Grace played the violin and Nick sang songs. Some of the old people sang along with them.

On Sunday, we held a fair in the school playground.

In the morning, we _________ food, drinks, and some other things for the fair. Nancy and Ann helped one another to buy fruit. Leo and Pip offered to _________ old books, magazines and comics. Amy and Tom helped each other decorate (装饰) their stalls (货摊).

In the afternoon, Nancy sold fruit salad and Ann sold fruit juice. Leo and Pip sold old books, magazines and comics. Joe handed out flags. He gave the flags to people who put their _________ into his basket.

Many students and their families came to the fair and donated money.

Last summer, we had a volunteer activity in a village school. In the school, I saw a name Feng Aiguo on a list. This man offered much money to the school. I thought he must be a ______ man.

One day, on my way home from school, my bike was broken. Luckily I found a repairing stand(修理摊) across from the street. An old man was ______ a bike. He was wearing a clean suit. He looked energetic(精力充沛的). While waiting, I knew ______ about him from the old men chatting there. He was Laofeng and ______ to repair bikes after he retired (退休). Two months ago, his family moved into a new house. His son didn't want him to repair bikes any longer. He bought him suits and asked him to ______ them and rest at home. But it didn't work. The old man continued his repairing work in his suits.

After a while, the old man got my bike repaired. ______ I was leaving, an old lady came and called him “Aiguo”. ______ the name on the list of the village school came into my mind. But how could such a common repairman ______ so much money? I asked him if he knew that village. He told me it was his hometown and that the ______ there still needed help. So he always saved money by repairing bikes to help them. Then I was sure that he was the person on the ______.

Last Saturday, Du Juan came to a park with her red chair and tools (工具) as usual. She put a sign saying “_________ Haircuts” on the ground. Then an old man came and sat down.

Du Juan and the old man talked _________ like old friends. The old man said he was going to _________ his son’s birthday party.

Twenty minutes later, “OK, done,” said Du Juan. The old man looked at himself in a mirror (镜子) and _________ her.

So far Du Juan has _________ such free haircuts to people around the city. All began because of an illness. It made her thick hair very _________. After that, she was afraid to have her hair cut until she met Bob, a skilled barber (理发师). “He talked with me kindly, and it makes me _________. He changed my look, and more importantly, he changed me,” Du Juan said.

“I learned the haircut _________ and later became a barber,” she said. During her free time, she not only gave people free haircuts, but also made them feel happy. “I can’t make their _________ go away, but I can help them feel less lonely for a moment,” she said.
