When a student from a warm country comes to England in autumn for the first time, he feels cold at first. There are often dark clouds, grey sky and cold rain in England in autumn, and most students from warm countries do not like this.

What is at the top of the world's food chain? We are! We are not the biggest or fastest, but we are the cleverest.

We could not run faster than cheetahs (猎豹), so we invented (发明) cars and now we can move the fastest. We could not fight better than lions, so we invented guns (枪) . Now we can hunt (打猎) the best.

People's inventions (发明物) are clever, but they can be dangerous, too. For example, people invented factories, and now they make the air and rivers dirty. This can make terrible (糟糕的) changes. Dirty rivers kill fish. If bears cannot eat the fish, they will die. If we kill one part of the food chain, other parts also die. Remember that we are a part of the food chain, we are protecting ourselves! We should and we can do something for the world!

A long time ago, people were very different from the way we are now. Over time, the human body changes to adapt to(适应) a new way of life. Can we expect the human body to change in the future? For sure. The development of technology is changing how we live. What kind of changes can we expect?

In the future, people will probably be even taller. Most of us now have much better food than people in the past and we grow more. However, our muscles will not be as strong as now because we won’t do a lot of physical work.

We are already using our feet less, and our hands more. So we can expect that our legs will get shorter and our feet smaller, and at the same time, our fingers will get longer. And our fingers and our eyes will both get better because they’ll have to do more work together.

It’s very possible that people will have four toes, not five. The little toe really isn’t needed any more, so it will probably disappear(消失) sometime in the future.

Now, what about the mouth? It’ll get smaller, perhaps, because technology improvement will mean that we don’t need to talk so much, and also because our teeth will get smaller.

Last but not least, people won’t have much hair on their bodies as now, as we don’t need it to keep ourselves warm any more.

Will all these things happen? If so, when? These are questions no one can answer for sure.
