Beijing Opera is our national opera. It came into being after 1790 and has a history of over 200 years. Its music and singing came from Xipi and Erhuang in Anhui and Hubei. There are four main roles in Beijing Opera: Sheng, Dan, Jing and Chou. Beijing Opera is full of famous stories, beautiful facial paintings, wonderful gestures and fighting. Some of the stories are from history books, but most are from famous novels. The people in the stories usually can’t agree with each other. They become angry, unhappy, sad and lonely. Sometimes they are frightened and worried. Then they find a way to make peace with each other. Everyone is usually happy in the end.

Beijing Opera is an important part of Chinese culture. In China it used to be popular with old people while young people didn’t like it very much. However, more young people are becoming interested in it nowadays. And more people around the world are learning about Beijing Opera’s special singing, acting and facial paintings.

I’d like to share one of my favorite movies with you. Based on Liu Cixin’s book of the same name, the movie the Wandering Earth has won my heart ever since I watched it for the first time. It’s directed by Guo Fan. And Wu jing, Qu Chuxiao and Li Guangjie are the leading actors of it. It’s released in February, 2019.

It’s a quite exciting and interesting film which lasts for 125 minutes. The story is set in 2075, telling that the sun is about to run out of energy, so humans can’t live on the earth any more. Therefore, mankind open the “Wandering Earth” plan to run away from the solar system with the earth looking for a new home for humans. From the movie, we can learn what the future earth would be like.

Long ago, (A) there was a giant called Kuafu on the earth. He ran very fast. Every day, Kuafu watched the sun come up and go down. ①When night came, he became sad. He thought, “I do not like the darkness. (B) _________ I could catch the sun, I could keep night as bright as day. It would (C) all the time be warm and I would never have to sleep again.”

The next day, Kuafu (D)开始追赶太阳。②After running thousands of kilometres, he finally followed the sun to the Yu Valley, but Kuafu was thirsty and very, very tired. He came to the Yellow River and drank it dry. It was not enough. He quickly (E) got to the Wei River and drank it dry, but again, it was not enough. He kept running to the Great Sea. However，he fell down before he got there. Kuafu was so angry that he tried to throw a peach tree branch at the sun. But before the branch reached the sun, Kuafu died. ③When the sun came up again, Kuafu’s body became a mountain. The peach tree branch grew into a peach tree forest, and there were lots of sweet and juicy peaches (F) _________ the trees.
