A first-grade student’s best friend is battling cancer. He decided that hours of playing and telling jokes was not 【小题1】. He wanted to show his friend how he 【小题2】 the difficult time he was going through.

Five-year-old Vincent Butterfield decided the only way was to shave his head in support of（支持）his best friend Zac Gossage, who 【小题3】 his hair because of chemotherapy（化疗）.

Zac got acute lymphoblastic leukemia（急性白血病）last June. He is receiving treatment but still goes to Union Elementary in Missouri every day, because that’s where he gets to hang out with Vincent. When the little boy was asked why he shaved his hair off, he said, “To make Zac feel like he’s not the only one 【小题4】 any hair.”

Vincent is also learning about cancer（癌症）and raising money for his best friend after learning how 【小题5】 his chemotherapy treatments are.

He made more than 20 scarves and sold them. He has raised more than $200 to give to Zac. The little boy’s mum Karen told the reporter, “We were making these scarves. He just said it would be 【小题6】 if we could sell them.”

In October 2021, a local newspaper told a story of a common man, Jia Shuangdeng. He is from Shanxi Province. He not only 【小题1】 hard but has helped many deaf people live a better life as well.

At the age of 14, something 【小题2】 to Jia and turned him into a deaf person. Sad and heartbroken, he had to 【小题3】 school and learned by himself at home for more than two years. Later, with other people’s help, he cheered up and made a 【小题4】 by making shoes. He 【小题5】 many difficulties, but he faced them bravely and kept on working hard. Luckily, his shoes became popular and sold well. After a few years, his own company 【小题6】 and it was successful. However, he didn’t forget those who had helped him. So he decided 【小题7】 the people a hand in need. Since then, he 【小题8】 many deaf people chances to work.

What he did has benefited (有益于) lots of deaf people. “The person I want to thank in my life is Mr. Jia. Thanks to him, I’ve got a good job. And I 【小题9】 others now. He always tells us although we are disabled, we 【小题10】 our dreams come true by working hard one day,” said Xie Ting, who was helped by Jia.

Darius is a 12-year-old boy from Newark, New Jersey. He doesn’t like talking with others, and he always keeps 【小题1】. But he is helpful.

【小题2】, Darius made bow ties (蝶形领结) to help homeless pets find new homes. His love for bow ties started at a very early age. When he was two, he wasn’t able to speak or do any easy things as other two-year-old 【小题3】 did. His mother and sister tried to help 【小题4】. Darius made a breakthrough (突破) when his sister 【小题5】 making hair ribbons (发带) for little girls.

“My mother and I came up 【小题6】 the idea that if he helped us with things like preparing the ribbon or cutting it, it would help him. And we were 【小题7】 because it worked!” his sister said.

Darius started making bow ties and 【小题8】 one every day. He began giving away many bow ties to animal shelters. 【小题9】 people bought bow ties online, it helped him buy materials (材料) for bow ties. Darius became famous for helping homeless pets. Many 【小题10】 interviewed him, and he even received a personal letter from the President of the United States.
