Are you emotional(感情用事的)? Do you often have strong feelings? How do you deal with bad emotions?

We feel angry or guilty (内疚的) about the things we did or did not achieve, about the things we cannot have, and many other things. It seems that everyone has their own bad emotions. But neither guilt nor anger can help us. Over time, they can be heavy weights on our shoulders.

These bad emotions are not good for us at all. So you might ask yourself- is it possible to put down the heavy weights and give yourself a break? It is quite possible. Start by actually looking at your feelings. How do they get inside of us? Why do we carry them for so long instead of putting them down? Can we live without them?

By thinking about our bad emotions, we can find healthy ways to deal with them. Unhealthy behaviors are not the way to do this. They provide no relief. Instead, there are better ways to deal with them. One of the best ways is forgiveness.

Forgiveness is a powerful tool. We should forgive ourselves first. We shouldn't keep bad emotions inside. We must also forgive others who have made us guilty or angry. This is not always easy. But when we learn to forgive ourselves, it becomes easier to forgive others as well.

There is nothing good about carrying years of emotional burdens. By forgiving ourselves and others, we can give up our burdens and feel better about ourselves. The moment you do this, you will start to feel a lot better. Years of heaviness will be magically lifted! You’ll start to feel like you have more energy and you'll be much happier with your life.

Every now and then you may see news of satellites(卫星) sent into space. On Feb 21, for example, US company SpaceX took 46 satellites into orbit(轨道). On Feb 27, China sent 22 satellites into space. Why do we need so many satellites? What do they do out there?

At present, there are more than 3,000 active satellites moving around the Earth. Satellites do all kinds of work. They are used to send TV signals, give you directions on the road and help scientists do research.

For example, the 22 satellites China just sent up are part of the Beidou Navigation(导航) Satellite System. Shared bikes that use BeiDou chips(芯片) can be found more easily.

Before satellites, TV signals didn’t go very far. Mountains or tall buildings would block(阻碍) them. Phone calls to faraway places were also a big problem. With satellites, TV signals and phone calls can be sent directly to a satellite and back down to different places on Earth. SpaceX’s Starlink project is trying to go further. It plans to use satellites to provide Internet in the future.

Satellites can also provide information about clouds, oceans, land and ice. They help scientists predict changes in weather and climate. By closely watching wildfires and volcanoes, satellites help people deal with natural disasters. Farmers can use satellite images to decide the best time to water their fields.

Some satellites fly near other planets. They may look for water on Mars or take close-up pictures of other planets. In 2020, video website Bilibili sent a satellite into space. Its job is to look at other planets and share the pictures and videos with Bilibili’s users.

Like any other machines, satellites do not last forever. When they die, they either burn up or become space junk. Someday we may need to send “garbage trucks” to clean them up.

How is acid rain created?

When people use fuels(燃料), such as coal and gasoline, poisonous gases are give off. When these gases mix with rain, acid rain forms. Many power stations burn fuels in order to creat the electricity(电) that we use in our homes and offices every day. Cars and trucks also send these gases into the air when they burn gasoline .When rain mixes with these gases, harmful things called acids form. This is acid rain.

How does acid rain affect us?

Acid rain damages(毁坏)everything that it touches. It poisons our rivers, ponds, lakes, and oceans along with all the life in them. It pollutes our soil and crops, harms trees, and can even kill fish and plants. Acid rain also eats away at buildings.

How can we prevent acid rain?

We need to cut down on the pollution that gets into our air. Turn off lights, television, and other electrical appliances if you are not using them, Walk or take a bike whenever possible. If you are travelling a long distance, take a bus or train to save fuel.

As research shows, acid rain harms our environment. But people everywhere can take small steps now to help protect our environment for future generations.
