Who is the tallest man in the world? And who is the fastest man? To find out the answers, you can open Guinness (吉尼斯) World Records. It began to record the finest human achievements (成就) in 1954. Since then, the book has told strange and wonderful things.

Now more than 100 million copies of the book have been sold in almost 40 languages. Guinness World Records was first published by Jim Pattison Group in Canada. From then on, many people have wanted to get into the book. Anyone with a very special skill or talent can apply for (申请) a Guinness record. After that, the Guinness Organization (组织) will check your information. If your information is true, after checking, they will finally send you an official Guinness World Record certificate!

The person with the most Guinness World Records is Ashrita Furman from the USA. Furman holds 125 records.

But Guinness won’t accept some records. For example, if an activity could harm people or animals, they do not accept it.

Bikes are popular in the Dutch(荷兰). In fact, nearly half of all travel in the Dutch is by bike. Now, one Dutch bike designer(设计师), Thomas, has taken the country’s interest in bikes by making a school bus bike.

The big bike has eight sets of pedals(踏板) for kids, a driver seat for an adult, and three other seats, comfortably letting little kids for their trip to and from school. The bike even has a motor, which can help with high hills or at times when few kids on it.

So far, Thomas tells Fast Company, he’s sold 25 school-bikes, at a price of $ 25,000 each—less than it would cost to buy a traditional school bus with the same number of seats. Along with the traditional color, the bikes, are colored yellow so that they can be seen easily.

Thomas says he’s sold school bus bikes to neighboring countries such as Belgium, England and Germany, but so far, the school bus bike hasn’t been sold in the United States. If the U.S. agrees to buy this kind of school bus bike, it could do a lot of good to improve exercise for a young age and help them keep healthy.

Balanced on a rock in the middle of a river, a black bear lowers her head to the water and tries to catch a fish. She’s spent the summer eating berries and roots. Now she’s eating all the fish she can catch. She needs fat to put on weight and make milk for newborn bears this winter.

Black bears live throughout most of North America, including northern Mexico. They usually live in forests and are excellent tree climbers. Although they are called black bears, they can be blue-gray, brown, or even white. Black bears are not picky eaters. Their goal is to store up as much fat as possible before their winter sleep.

In late November and early December, black bears head to their caves to sleep away the winter, or hibernate (冬眠). Their body temperature is lowered, and their breathing slows down while they live off the huge amounts of body fat they stored up during the summer and fall. This way, they don’t have to go out and look for food in the cold.

Male black bears leave their caves around mid-March, but females stay a little longer. That’s because they give birth around January and want to give their kids time to grow bigger before heading back outside in the early spring.

Little black bears stay with Mom for one to three years while she teaches them how to live in the wild. Then, when they’re ready, they head off to survive in the woods alone until they start a family of their own.
