Growing up in the US, I always wanted to experience different culture. The chance came when I was 15. After a few months of planning and preparing, I was ready to spend the second term of my first year of senior high school (高中) as an exchange (交换) student in Australia.
The city I stayed in was Perth. When I arrived at the airport, the family I would stay with was waiting for me there. At the school, students had to wear school uniforms (校服), and we couldn’t wear jewelry (首饰). Luckily, everything went well. The teachers were nice and the students were friendly.
The most exciting time of my term in Australia was with 41 other exchange students from different countries. We all cried on our last day. We packed (打包) our things, exchanged e-mail addresses and said goodbye to each other.
I really learned a lot from my exchange experience.
