Students Volunteers Needed

Are you looking for something fun and do you want to help others in your spare time? Then join us to be a volunteer.

On October 23, from 9 am to 4 pm, Clapton Middle School will hold a music festival in the school gym. A variety of professional (专业的) musicians and singers will be there.

Interested students should speak to Ms. Braxton, the music teacher. Students who would like to help at the festival must have the written permission (同意书) from your parents.

On May 10th, Lin Tao was at home working on his computer. His parents were out. Suddenly, he heard someone shouting “Fire! Fire! Help!” He ran outside and saw a lot of smoke (烟) from next door. He went in and found his neighbour, the 79-year-old Mrs. Sun, in the kitchen. Her left leg was badly hurt and she could not get out.

Lin Tao ran quickly into Mrs. Sun’s bathroom (卫生间) and got his clothes wet. Then he ran into the kitchen. There was heavy smoke and it was very hot in the room. He put a wet coat over Mrs. Sun and helped her out. After that, he called 119. Later some firemen came and put out the fire.

The fire hurt Lin Tao’s arms, legs and face. He stayed in hospital for two weeks. Many people visited him and gave him flowers and gifts. “How brave(勇敢的) you are!” they said, “Were you afraid at that time?” “Yes, a little,” Lin Tao answered, “but I didn’t have time to think about it. Mrs. Sun needed my help.”
