Do you hear of Zhong Yetang? If not, let me tell you something about her. Zhong is a young girl who made videos and played them on Bilibili. In those videos, she cooked food from ancient (古代的) books and showed the battle-rapping (说唱) between ancient people. Such special videos brought the girl a number of followers.

Zhong said she wanted to bring ancient history back to life. “I don’t want people to see ancient culture as boring and far-off things. It can be cool and popular,” she said.

To make her videos, Zhong did a lot of work. She read at least five passages and books about the person because she wanted to tell his or her story. Then she thought of herself as these people in order to feel their feelings. She also went to markets to collect recipes (收集菜谱) from the old times.

“You also need to quickly know about hot things online,” Zhong said. There was an online talk about whether hanfu is from China or South Korea before. In one of her videos, she acted in handfu and told its history in English. “There is no better way to make them know than just showing them,” she said.

I am Lucy. One day I sat under the tree. Things weren’t going well in my life, and I felt upset and disappointed(失望的). Then a little boy walked to me. He stood before me and said with great excitement, “Look what I found!”

In his hand was a flower. I tried to be polite. I smiled and waited for him to leave. However, instead of going away, the boy sat next to me, placing the flower in front of his nose and said, “It smells sweet and it’s beautiful, too. That’s why I picked it. And it’s for you.”

I knew I must take it, or he might never leave. So I reached for the flower and replied, “It’s just what I need.” But he didn’t put the flower in my hand. He held it in the midair(半空中). It was then that I noticed that there was something wrong with the boy’s eyes.

I heard my voice quiver(颤抖) as I thanked him. “You’re welcome,” he smiled and said. Then he ran off to play. He had no idea how much difference he had made to me.

I sat there and wondered how he managed to see a sad woman under the tree. Perhaps from his heart, he had been blessed（保佑）with true sight. I realized that there were so many beautiful things around me and I had never seen them.

From then on, I decided to try my best to discover and enjoy the beauty in my life.   

Zou Dianrong, 81, took the national judicial examination (国家司法考试) in Ningxia on Nov. l in 2021, drawing many people’s attention.

When Zou left the examination room with a big smile on his face, he became the focus (焦点) of the crowd. “The test was not difficult, although completing all the questions in time was a challenge. Therefore I only answered half of the questions. It was difficult to figure out of the computers and this wasted a lot of time.”

Zou was a Chinese teacher before retirement. He could have enjoyed a relaxed and happy life with his family. But he wanted to explore the sea of knowledge.

As more and more people learned legal (法律的) knowledge across the nation, Zou came up with the idea of taking the exam. “I just want to learn more about law,” said Zou. He said he spent three months preparing for the exam, with at least two-hour study every day. Zou’s family disagreed with his decision at first, as they thought the exam was useless for an eight-year-old person.

But Zou said he wanted to provide voluntary service to the public, if he passed the exam for him, the result doesn’t matter. “If I fail this time, I’ll try again next year.”

“I hope that more people will take the judicial examination and learn legal knowledge, to better defend our rights within the law,” said Zou.
