The weather is cold, but people’s hearts are not. Heilongjiang has become a popular travel place this winter.
The 25th Harbin Ice and Snow World continues to catch many tourists’ attention. The amusement park covers an area of 810,000 square meters. Visitors mostly came to enjoy the beauty when it gets dark. They can enjoy more than 1,000 works of art, all made of ice and snow. But the Harbin Ice and Snow World is not the only place to go. There are many other good choices, too. Tourists can also enjoy having barbecues (烧烤) in Qiqihar and going to hot springs in Daqing. They could even watch the sun rise in Fuyuan, China’s easternmost city.
The Harbin subway is running longer hours to meet people’s needs. Passengers can use free tickets to travel between the stations of the Sun Island and the Ice and Snow World. So it’s easier for them to go to the two main events taking place there.
Heilongjiang also wrote a thank-you letter to all the tourists. It thanked them for visiting and taking part in different activities. All their short videos and travel articles online, the letter points out, have made Heilongjiang known to more people. The letter also invited visitors to share their feelings. Besides, the letter encouraged visitors to make suggestions. All this would make the province a better place as problems can be solved as soon as possible. Their likes and suggestions, the letter says, encourage the province to do a better job.
Even in a cold season like this, the enthusiasm (热情) of tourists can be felt all over the country.

How are things with you?
As I told you yesterday, I am in Rome, Italy today. Tomorrow we are taking the train down into the south of the country and then the ship across to Greece.
I can’t wait to arrive in Athens to see all that history.
We started in England and we spent two days in London and another day in Canterbury. We visited a lot of places and enjoyed its history. The people were friendly and the food was delicious.
Then we got to Paris and the sun was shining! We only stayed for one afternoon in the French capital because my friends really wanted to visit Euro Disney which is to the east of Paris.
Well, I have to say I prefer the American Disneyland.
Clive and his wife left us when we got to Germany by train. They went to Denmark, but we went to Munich. Wow—what a great city! I bought you a gift there. I hope you like it.
After that, we went south into Switzerland. It was very expensive and we couldn’t stay as long as we wanted to, so that’s why we’re in Italy now!
