Mario Green and Mary Brown from Riverside High School give up several 【小题1】(hour) each week to help others.

Mario loves animals and wants to be an animal doctor. He 【小题2】(volunteer) at an animal hospital every Saturday morning. Mario believes it can help him to get 【小题3】(him) future dream job. “It’s hard work,” he says , “but I want to learn more about how to care for animals. 【小题4】 he sees the animals get better, he always gets a strong feeling of satisfaction. Mary is a book 【小题5】(love). She could read by herself 【小题6】 the age of four. Last year she decided to try out for a volunteer after-school reading program. She still works there once 【小题7】 week to help kids learn to read.

UNICEF was set up i【小题1】 1946. At that time, many children’s lives were c【小题2】 because of the terrible war and UNICEF wanted to help them. S【小题3】 then, it has helped build a better world for everyone, e【小题4】 children all over the world.

For example, in some poor areas, children don’t have c【小题5】 water or food. Some of them even lose t【小题6】 lives for disease. What’s more, many families can’t a【小题7】 to send children to school. So UNICEF helps g【小题8】, communities and families to protect these children. It provides basic education and raises money for them.

Many children love animals. And Willow Phelps is one of 【小题1】 (they). In fact, this American little girl not only loves animals, but she also has done really a lot for them. And 【小题2】 she did these kind things, she won the 2016 ASPCA(美国防止虐待动物协会) Kid of the Year.

Willow’s 【小题3】 (love) for animals started early. When she was about 3 years old, her family took in 【小题4】 18-year-old cat. Under the care of Willow, the cat lived for another 3 years. After that, many old pets arrived in Willow’s home. So, Willow began to make plans to help more 【小题5】 (animal).

With her mum’s help, Willow began running, swimming and even sewing(缝制) toys to 【小题6】 (raise) money for animals in need of help. In her young life, she has 【小题7】 (successful) completed the three projects. Finally, she raised $11,000. She also succeeded in 【小题8】 (stop) the use of live goldfish as prizes at her school party. And what she did for goldfish was 【小题9】 (notice) and rewarded(奖励) by the ASPCA.

“I will continue to speak up for animals no matter 【小题10】 hard it is,” said Willow. Willow dreams of becoming an animal doctor in the future. Let’s hope this little girl’s dream will come true.
