A doctor entered the hospital in a hurry after being called in for an important operation(急诊手术). When he got to the ________   area, he found the boy’s father pacing(来回踱步) in the hall and waiting for the doctor.

On seeing   him, the father cried out, “Why   did   you take   such a_______ time to come? Don’t you know that my son’s life is__________? Don’t you have any sense of responsibility? Once upon a time, there was a couple named Sue and John. Both of them were artists. In the late autumn, John became ________ ill.
