We’ve probably all met someone who likes to show off about where he or she has been. To some people, traveling is all about how many places one has been to. But luckily, the old “been there, seen that” mode is changing.

Last year’s travel trend (趋势) was “experiential travel”. This is where tourists look for ways to get to know local culture and meet local people so they feel less like an outsider.

So what about this year? Can creative tourists get even more out of their traveling experience?

Transformative (起改变作用的) travel is much like “experiential travel”, but takes it a step further.

It usually goes through three steps – you go to a place that has a very different background from where you live, you learn wisdom from the new culture and the people you meet, and finally you go back home and use the knowledge in your own lives. This last step is how the“transformation” is completed and what separates transformative travel from experiential travel.

One way to plan a green trip is to travel a shorter distance, which can reduce your carbon footprint (碳排放量). “One trans-Atlantic flight equals a year’s worth of driving, so taking a trip in this way can help protect the environment,” suggested Warren, according to US News.

Another way to go green in your travel plans is to choose a place that will be helped most from your trip. For example, places like Nepal will enjoy an increase in its local economy (经济)through the trip.

Some sights at risk of disappearing are also welcoming an increasing number of tourists. Everett Potter, a USA Today writer, says that the Arctic and Antarctic have attracted (吸引)more and more tourists since they are being greatly influenced by climate (气候) change.

Another top sight is the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. It’s believed that the reef will be seriously harmed in just a few years because of pollution and global warming. Travelers look forward to seeing the coral (珊瑚) “before it’s gone or completely changed”, Potter told US News.

Kate and Jim are wife and husband.Like many New Age Travellers，they don't live in a house，but in a truck.For about three years they moved around the country with other travellers.Now their daughter，Lucy，is four years old，and Kate wants to change their life and come back to the city.But Jim likes the travelling life.He thinks they should live on the road.“We have a lot of good friends here.We live in the open air.How fresh the air is! If we like a place，we stay for some time.If we don't like it，we move on.I don't like cities.You must live in a small box and you should work hard for all your time to get enough money to live.That's not life.We should stay away from cities.Lucy is a nice girl.She can learn real things about life with us on the road,” Jim says.

“Yes，I like this kind of life better than city life.Travelling is interesting in spring and summer.But winter is always difficult.It is so cold that Lucy gets ill every winter.The most important thing，I think, is that Lucy needs a good education(教育) and she should have her own friends and a usual life like other kids.That means we must live in one place.Shall we move back to the city or not？” says Kate.

Jimmy has never taken part in a camping trip before. He finally started his first camping trip this spring. The following is what he told us about the camp:

I always wondered what it would be like to go camping. I love sports but this is one thing I haven’t done before. So when one of my classmates advised us to go camping this spring, I jumped with happiness.

The night before camping, I checked(检查) my bag: a sleeping bag, a water bottle, a flashlight (手电筒), some clothes, some food. I was ready!

We got to the camp by bus early the next morning. There were twenty of us and we were divided(分开) into four groups. We played games to get to know one another better. After lunch, we learnt how to keep safe in the forest. We also played games that taught us to work with and trust others. In the evening, we walked for an hour in the forest. And at the end of the night, we had a big campfire. We sat around it, sang songs and told scary stories. This was certainly not my last camping trip!
