The Wilsons decided to go overseas for a vacation. They had a family meeting to plan the vacation.

“First,” Mr. Wilson said, “we should decide where we want to go.”

“I don’t agree,” Mrs. Wilson said. “I think we should decide when we want to go first. We don’t want to go to some countries where it’s cold.”

Mr. Wilson agreed, so the family’s first decision was when to go on vacation. They decided to go in July, when it’s warm throughout the northern hemisphere(半球).

“Now we can decide where to go,” Mr. Wilson said.

“But, Dad,” Ben said, “don’t you think that where we go depends on how we go? If we plan to fly, we can go a long way. If we plan to drive, we can’t go so far.”

Again Mr. Wilson agreed, and they discussed this. At last they agreed to travel by plane.

Then Mr. Wilson said, “Now, where do we want to go?”

“Actually, Dad,” Trudy said, “l think we should work out how many days we’ll have before we can decide where to go.”

And so the meeting went on. The next day, one of Mr. Wilson’s friends at work asked, “Have you planned your vacation yet?”

“We’ve decided when we want to go, how we want to get there and how many days we can spend,” Mr. Wilson told him, “but we still haven’t decided where we’re going!”

This summer vacation I went to Salt Lake City with three friends. There were two Chinese girls and one Chinese boy. This is the first time I went to this city. We spent 45 minutes taking the bus to Sandy and then take a train to the city.

We visited the Temple Square first. There were many different language tour guides (导游). We joined the Chinese group so that we could listen to the guide clearly. It was easy for us to understand what the guide explained about the history. After visiting the temple, we got free tickets to see the new Church film.

We went to a big mall to eat fast food for our lunch. You know that ordering the food was a little difficult for me. I was nervous, but at last I ordered my food by the menu. There was the main dish, dessert, and a cup of drink. I enjoyed this small trip.

Are you always happy during your vacation? Many people may say “yes”. But last week I had a bad vacation.

My parents and I went to the Great Wall by car. We got in the car at 7:00 a.m., but on the half way, there was something wrong with the car. It was about 11:00 a.m. when we got to the Great Wall.

We were excited when we stood on the Great Wall. I took out the camera and wanted to take some photos. But just then, it started to rain. We had to go back to our car. When we wanted to eat something, we found we left our food at home.
