A woman was at the cinema, and she was enjoying the film very much. But there was a man in the next seat, and he began looking on the floor under him. The woman was angry and whispered, “What are you doing there? What are you looking for?” “A piece of hard chocolate（巧克力）,”the man whispered to her, “I dropped it on the floor.” “A piece of chocolate?” the woman said angrily, “It’s dirty now! Take this and be quiet, please! I’m listening to the film!” She gave the man a big piece of chocolate.“But,” the man said, “my teeth are in the piece on the floor!”

One Monday morning, when I was waiting for the train, suddenly I felt uncomfortable (不舒服的). I couldn’t keep standing, then fell down and the world went black. Someone (某人) shouted, “Oh, my God, she’s falling.” …Then I only remembered that the doctor asked me my name…That happened because I was too tired. I was busy cleaning my new house and I ate little last weekend.

The doctor told me that a kind man saw me fall down. He got to me right away, and told others to call 120. He stayed with me until the ambulance (救护车) arrived. Then he went with me to the hospital, so he missed his train. At last, this kind man left without telling us his name.

I don’t know the kind man’s name. But if he reads this article and remembers a young girl fainting (晕倒) at the train station, I’d like him to know that I want to say “Thank you” to him. If I meet with such a man, I will do the same as he did to me. And I’ll pass on the kindness to others.

Years ago a farmer owned land along the seacoast (海岸). He often asked people to work on his farm, but most people didn’t want to work on farms along the seacoast. They feared (害怕) the terrible storms across from the Atlantic Ocean.

Finally, a short, thin man, about forty, got to the farm. “Are you a good farmhand (农场工人)?” the farmer asked him. “Well, I can sleep when the wind blows,” answered the little man.

Although surprised at this answer, the farmer still had to take the man. The little man worked well around the farm, busy from morning to night, and the farmer felt satisfied with the man’s work.

Then one night the wind cried loudly outside, jumping out of bed, the farmer took a lamp, rushed next door to the farmhand’s sleeping room. He shook the little man and shouted, “Get up! A storm is coming! Get everything ready before they are blown away!”

The little man lay in bed and said quietly, “No, sir. I told you, I can sleep when the wind blows.” Annoyed (恼怒的) at the answer, the farmer decided to let him go away. He hurried outside to prepare for the storm. To his surprise, he found that all of the things had been covered with tarpaulins (防水油布). The cows were in their houses, and the chickens were in their houses, too. Everything was ready for the wind. Nothing could be blown away.

The farmer then understood what the farmhand had meant, so he returned to his bed to also sleep again while the wind blew.

Can you sleep when the wind blows through your life? The farmhand in the story was able to sleep because he did well in his work and kept the farm safe in the storm.
