Healthy eating doesn’t just mean what you eat, but how you eat. Here is some advice on healthy eating.

Eat with others. It can help you to see others’ healthy eating habits. If you usually eat with your parents, you will find that the food you eat is more delicious.

Listen to your body. Ask yourself whether you are really hungry or not. Sometimes you are just thirsty (渴的). You need no food. You just need a glass of water.

Eat breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. After you don’t eat for the past ten hours, your body needs food to get you going. You will be smarter after eating breakfast.

Eat healthy snacks like fruits, yogurt or cheese. We all need snacks sometimes. In fact, it’s a good idea to eat two healthy snacks between your three meals. This doesn’t mean that you can eat a bag of snacks instead of a meal.

Don’t eat dinner late. Because of our busy life, we always put off eating dinner until the last minute. Try to eat dinner at least 3 hours before you go to bed. This will give your body a chance to digest most of the food before you rest for the next 8 to 10 hours.

Primary school children in the UK have little choice over what they eat for lunch. Either their parents pack their lunchbox, or they choose from only one or two options(选择,选项)on a hot dinner menu. However, secondary schools let students make their own meal choices freely.

In the past, this has led to problems. There is a 2004 survey called School Meals in Secondary Schools in England. It showed that many schools offered unhealthy menus. For example, on four or five days of the week, 76 percent of schools served chips and other potatoes cooked in oil, while 86 percent served high fat meals like burgers and fried chicken. And when offered such dishes, most students were picking them:48 percent chose high fat main dishes; 48 percent chose chips or similar and 24 percent chose cakes or muffins(松饼). Fruit, fruit juice, vegetables and salads were the least popular choices.

In his 2005 television series Jamie’s School Diners, famous chef Jamie Oliver began working with school cooks on providing more healthy meals. At first, many students and parents were against the idea. But the tide began to turn and Jamie’s effort has led to a general improvement in nutritional standards(营养标准)for school meals.

More recently, online systems like “Parent Pay” give parents more control over what their children are eating at school. They can set daily spending limits and see exactly what their kids are buying each day.

This is a piece of news (新闻) from the USA. The news is about e-cigarettes (电子烟) and health.

In the USA, some health officials (官员) say that e-cigarettes can be a problem. More and more American people fall ill because of e-cigarettes. These officials say that they know about 450 people. They were all ill because of e-cigarettes. Five of these people even lost their lives.

These officials do not know what kind of chemical is in e-cigarettes. That is to say, they do not know what is making people ill. In the USA, some people buy e-cigarettes every day. These people don’t buy e-cigarettes from stores, and they buy them from the streets. The officials say that it is better to use products from stores, not from the streets.

Smoking is bad for our health, so we have to stay away from it. It can make our family unhealthy, too. So if people want them and their family to stay healthy, they must give up smoking. They should force themselves to stay away from cigarettes and e-cigarettes, because both of them do harm to people. Teachers should do something to tell their students about the harm of smoking. What’s more, someone advises people not to sell cigarettes and e-cigarettes.
