Good morning. My name is Su Lisha, a middle school student in Taiyuan. My parents are English teachers in my school, but they are not my teachers. My parents are good to their students. They always help them, so my parents are welcome in my school. I have a sister. Her name is Su Lina and she is 5. She is in a kindergarten (幼儿园) here.

Now I’m in my classroom. It’s nice. You can see a teacher’s desk, students’ desks and chairs. Three books are on the teacher’s desk. They are Mrs. Gao’s. She’s our Chinese teacher and she is nice to us. Oh, a school ID card is on the teacher’s desk, too. Who lost it? Oh, it’s Linda’s. She’s in Class 3, Grade 7 in our school. She can ask Mrs. Gao for it.

Grace is my pen friend. She is an English girl. I always talk to her about our family, friends and school online (在网上). In the email, I ask her, “What do you like? Classrooms in the US are different from those in China. This offers us a chance to learn about their educational style.

In China, most students have fixed(固定的) classrooms. Teachers take turns teaching in different classrooms. Teaching this way ensures that all students learn the same things. But students are not given much choice. No matter whether you like a subject or not, you have to learn it.

In the US, students often change classrooms based on(基于) different subjects. Besides compulsory(必修的) classes like English and math, teens can choose to learn about what they are interested in. For example, some kids may choose to study music or advanced math(高等数学).

Classroom arrangements also make a difference. Chinese classrooms are arranged(安排) in a traditional way, with rows of desks and chairs facing a blackboard. Teachers usually stand on a platform when teaching.

However, in US classrooms, seating arrangements are flexible(灵活的), depending on different class activities. For example, if students need to have a group discussion. Two or three of them will move their desks to sit face to face. Students in music classes also have different seating arrangements that make it easier for them to perform. Sometimes, teachers even sit with their students.

It’s hard to say which way is “better”, or if there is an ideal(理想的) way to arrange classrooms. You just have to find the one that works for you.

Will the Internet be used instead of libraries?   Well, the obvious（明显的）answer to this question-at least, it’s obvious to me-is no. But there are some people who don’t think so. They suggest closing libraries, since “you can find everything on the Internet”. In fact, they are wrong. One can’t find everything on the Internet ! While the Internet makes search（搜索）easy, and it is probably the best resource（资源） for many health and science topics, we really need books. We can only be sure that the information we find on the internet is true by reading books

Libraries offer more services than just the basic information one can find Google. For example, a school library can provide services and different resources for all Students of the school. Students have different learning ways, School libraries can deal with all of these differences.

One of the great school librarian writers, Doug Johnson, recently wrote an article about this topic. I recommend （推荐）reading it to understand this topic from different angles（角度）. I especially like his last paragraph.

Don’t take away either my electronic resources or my books. Both are needed to provide students with useful information. And keep in mind that a school library is not just a collection of materials-print or electronic. It is an important mixture of resources, courses and activities. It can help students not only have information, but also the necessary skills to put that information to good use
