When I was in high school and college, I went to fast food restaurants pretty often. Even until today, fast food is a popular choice among students. So, what makes fast food restaurants really popular year after year?

The food is not very expensive. 【小题1】 So, it is good to get something delicious to eat and still have some money left for a movie later.

Nowadays, many fast food restaurants open till late nights. 【小题2】Most teenagers go there also because other boys and girls are there. It is fun to be there, as seen in fast food TV advertisements. It is cool.

【小题3】You can just order fries or you can also mix and match with plenty of choices, such as coke with French fries, sundae with apple pies, salad with burgers. And managers there will not stare at you for reading there for hours if you just order French fries and a cup of coke.

【小题4】 They can have group discussions of school projects, small talk and even birthday celebrations.

You can try telling them some fast food is unhealthy, but I doubt if youngsters will listen. 【小题5】Some of them go to a fast restaurant every week. The food there is cheap, delicious, and served fast.

We always use “suan (sour), tian (sweet), ku (bitter), and xian (salty)” in Chinese to describe different tastes of food. And in fact, we can know what people are like from their food tastes.

In Sichuan, people like salty food. And we know people in this place usually speak more loudly than people in other places. Some studies show that people can get excited after eating salty food and this is why they speak more loudly. Sometimes people eating salty food can also get unhappy or angry（生气的）more easily than others. Some people think maybe this is because people eating too much salt don’t drink enough water, but others don’t think so.

People in places like Wuxi often eat sweet food. Studies show that these people usually feel happier than others. This is because after eating sweet food, dopamine（多巴胺）appears in people’s bodies. It can make people become happier and feel like eating more. These people are also usually friendlier.

Some people like sour food, but some can’t stand it. Some studies find if a person likes sour food, he usually likes to try new and exciting things.

What about bitter food? Well, most people seem to dislike it. But food like bitter gourds（苦瓜）is really good for our health.

It is Sunday, and some boys and girls are in Daming's house. They are all students in No.1 Middle School. Daming invites（邀请）them to his house to have lunch. Daming's mother is good at cooking. Now there is a lot of healthy food and drinks on the able. And it's lunch time. Daming says,"Help yourselves（请随便吃）."Jim likes eggs and milk. Tom likes fish. Lucy likes rice and chicken soup. Lily doesn’t like rice. She likes dumplings. They all like orange juice. They have a good time.
