A man lived in Florida and he was in his eighties. He called his son in New York one November day. The father said to the son, “I have to tell you that we’ve got some troubles here in the house. Your mother and I can’t stand each other any more, and we’re getting a divorce (离婚). I decided it! I want to live out the rest of my years in peace. I’m telling you now, so you and your sister shouldn’t go into shock later when I move out.”

The son called his sister in Hampton at once and told her the news. The sister said, “I will deal with this.” She called her father and said, “Don’t do anything till we get there. We will be there on Wednesday night.” The father agreed, “All right.” The old man hung up the phone and shouted to his wife, “OK, they are coming for Thanksgiving. What are we going to tell them for Christmas?”

Tom and John are brothers. They are eleven. They like watching TV. Tom likes watching A Bite of China（《舌尖上的中国》）. He likes Chinese food. John likes watching sports on TV. He thinks they’re very interesting.

One evening, after having dinner with their parents, John watches a soccer game on TV. But Tom wants to watch A Bite of China.

“Hi, John. I think sports are boring. How about watching A Bite of China?” Tom asks.

“Why? The soccer game is really cool. I want to watch it now,” John says. Tom isn’t happy, so he asks his mom for help.

“My dear, Tom! Why not watch it on the computer?” Mom says.

So Tom and John watch their favorite programs（节目）at the same time. They have a happy evening.

Jane Browning works in a busy hospital (医院) in Boston, the USA. On weekdays, she usually gets up at six o’clock in the morning and has a shower. Then she goes to work at seven o’clock.

Her husband (丈夫), David usually gets up at seven o’clock. He is a science teacher. They have one son. His name is Andy. Andy is thirteen. He goes to school at seven thirty in the morning with his father.

After Jane gets to the hospital, she talks to her patients and asks how they are. Then she meets the new patients. At about one o’clock in the afternoon she has lunch.

Usually Jane gets home at six o’clock in the evening and she is very tired. But she loves her job because she likes helping people.
