As teenagers, you have many dreams. These dreams can be very big, such as winning the Nobel Prize, or they can be small. You may just want to become one of the ten best students in your class. Once (一旦) you find your dream, what do you do for it? Did you ever try to make your dream come true?

Andrew Matthews, a famous writer, tells us that realizing our dreams is our life’s biggest challenge. You may think you’re not very good at some school subjects, or that it is impossible for you to become a writer. These kinds of thoughts (想法) stop you from realizing your dream. In fact, everyone can make their dreams come true. The first thing you must do is to remember what your dream is. And follow your heart. Keep telling yourself what you want. Do this step by step and your dream will come true faster because a big dream is, in fact, many small dreams. You must also never give up your dream. There will be difficulties on the road to your dream.
But the biggest difficulty comes from yourself. You need to decide what is the most important. Studying instead of (代替) watching TV will bring you better exam results, while saving five yuan instead of buying an ice cream means you can buy a new book.
If you don’t have dream, you won’t make up your mind to learn something more useful and find new hobbies.

So you got jokes, huh? Good. Having a good sense of humour is an important social skill. It makes making friends easier. And, it is also likely to help you become successful.

Funny people are more popular. It’s true. Think about it. Who do you make friends with? It’s really the people whom you have the most fun with and who make you laugh. Laughter plays a larger role in our lives than we realize. Funny people are easier to like because they make us happy by making us laugh.

Humour is a great tool for breaking the ice between people. When you meet someone that makes you laugh, you immediately begin to feel as if that person understands you. You feel that you share a similar sense of humour. And you’re eager to find out if you have more in common.

Humour creates an easy atmosphere(气氛)—an atmosphere that is easier to work in. If you talk about small mistakes in a funny way instead of being angry and serious, then people will be less afraid of making them and will be more relaxed and more creative. When a team of employees are happy, they are happier to work as well.

Being funny gives you more confidence. It allows you to feel more certain about yourself. If you know that you have the ability to make people laugh, then you are more likely to communicate with people. Being outgoing is one of the most important characteristics of successful people.

However, a bad joke will certainly kill the good atmosphere. So if you are going to be funny, then make sure you are actually funny.
