Shanghai is one of the first cities in China to see bike sharing fever. Shared bikes can now be found all over the city. 【小题1】On streets see riders of your age. Some might even be younger than you. Unluckily, there have been some accidents involving (涉及) shared bikes.【小题2】

One of the most serious accidents took place in March. One Sunday afternoon, a boy was riding an ofo bike (共享单车). He was hit by a bus and later died. The boy’s parents were not by his side. 【小题3】He was only about 10 years old.

The good news is that Shanghai has been trying to manage bike sharing by making rules. The rules are still being discussed, but some of the rules have been decided on. 【小题4】Users must be between 1. 45 and 1.95 meters tall.

However, it could be hard to make these rules work. Ou Jing is ofo’s manager in Shanghai. He said the company had banned (禁止) children under 12 from using its service. Yet, young children can still be seen riding ofo bikes. That’s because many ofo bikes use manual (手动的) locks. 【小题5】Ofo has developed electronic locks. However, it will take some time for the company to fix the new locks on all of its bikes.

Most of you are old enough to ride a shared bike. Still, please ride slowly for your own safety. When you finish using the bike, don’t forget to park and lock it properly—for everybody’s safety.

People in Los Angeles are known for their love for cars. The city is very big, and its public transportation (公共交通) is slow. So people drive everywhere. But now, a group of bicyclists (骑自行车的人) are trying to get people out of their cars but on bikes.

Devon Fitzgerald says he has to be careful when he rides his bike in the streets. “A lot of people drive very fast, and it’s very difficult to be careful.” Although riding a bike to work can be dangerous he likes to ride his bike to work. “It’s much easier than driving a car. For example, I don’t have to worry about parking.”

Roger Ross drives to work. “You always have to make sure you look to the other side because someone would rush (冲) across by bike. Or you can easily get into an accident.”

To make bicycling safer, some people who live and work near each other are riding to work together, which they call a “bike train”. Nona Varnado helped create (创设) the group— L. A. Bike Trains. “You’re in a big group. If you’re afraid of riding alone, you can now ride with other riders.” Nona said that people would feel safer by riding together in a group.

If you go to Thailand, you’ll see a very interesting vehicle (交通工具). It is like a three-wheeled (三轮的) motorbike. There is a cabin (舱室) for the driver in the front and two or three people can sit at the back. When it starts, it will make the sound “tuk, tuk”. That’s why it is calked tuk-tuk.

In Thailand, tuk-tuks are everywhere in big cities like Bangkok. Why? Because they are very small, and they can go very quickly. We can also find tuk-tuks in China, Italy and some other places.

How can you have a nice trip by tuk-tuk? Here are two tips. First, tell the driver where you are going, and talk about the price before you leave. If you don’t, you may pay too much for your trip, because tuk-tuks don’t have meters. Second, don’t put your feet on the rail (扶手) behind the driver’s head. It is not good to the driver.
