Proper hand washing is a good way of stopping the spread of disease, as it removes the germs that can be spread to others and helps to keep the environment around you clean.

Having clean hands is important because people often use their hands to touch their eyes, noses and mouths. Touching these areas gives germs access to the inside of the body where they can cause illness.       

You should always wash your hands before and after eating, after using the toilet, after blowing your nose, sneezing or coughing, after touching animals...

Washing your hands is simple but good for you. There are four simple steps you can take to wash your hands.

*Wet your hands with clean, running water. Make sure the water isn’t too hot or too cold.       

*Rub (擦) soap for about 20 seconds and lather up (起泡沫).       

*Make sure you get in between your fingers, on the backs of hands, and don’t forget the wrists (手腕)!       

*Wash your hands under running water to remove the soap, dirt and germs.

Drying your hands is also important. Don’t put your hands on your clothes or rub your hands together to dry them. Drying your hands with a paper towel is a good choice. It can keep germs away.

Think when you’re listening
