Basketball is a much-loved and active sport that is enjoyed by many for fun and exercise! It is over 100 years old and is played by 【小题1】 100 million people in over 200 countries. It is believed that the first basketball game in history was played 【小题2】 December 21, 1891. Then in 1936 in Berlin, it became   【小题3】 event at the Olympics.

Basketball was invented by a Canadian doctor   【小题4】 James Naismith, who was born in 1861. When he was a college teacher, he was asked to 【小题5】 a game that could be played in the winter. Dr. Naismith 【小题6】 a new game to be played inside on a hard floor. He divided the men in his class into two teams and taught 【小题7】 to play his new game.

Today, the popularity of basketball has risen 【小题8】, because many young people dream of becoming 【小题9】 players. A number of young people look up to these basketball 【小题10】 and want to become like them. These stars also encourage young people to work hard to achieve their dreams.

A robot named “Saya” started her life as a waitress at Japanese companies, and then she 【小题1】 a lesson to fifth-graders 【小题2】 a teacher at Tokyo’s Kudan Elementary School.

Professor Hiroshi Kobayashi of Tokyo University of Science, who built Saya, said he didn’t want to make her take the place of human teachers, and he just wanted to show the 【小题3】 of technology.

“We don’t 【小题4】 the robot will replace (代替) human teachers, but our main reason for building the robot is to use new technology to teach children about technology,” said Kobayashi.

“But Saya may be 【小题5】 in some schools which have no enough teachers,” he added, “and in the countryside or in some small 【小题6】, children do not have the 【小题7】 to come into contact with new technology and few teachers in their school can teach these lessons.” Most of the children were 【小题8】 in Saya, and did not take their eyes off her all over the class. When class was over, some students still 【小题9】 with her.

“It’s 【小题10】 much more fun than regular classes,” said 10-year-old Nanako Lijima. The children’s human teacher, however, was not so pleased with the robot as her students.
