Interviewer: Good morning to all our listeners. This morning, I’m talking to Fran Mason, who’s a clown（小丑）doctor. Fran, what is a clown doctor?

Fran: Well, we aren’t really doctors. We are clowns. But we pretend to be doctors. We go to children’s hospitals and do all kinds of crazy things to make the sick children laugh.

Interviewer: 【小题1】

Fran: I wear a doctor’s white coat and I pretend to examine a little boy or girl, for example, but then I make funny faces. They love it!

Interviewer: 【小题2】

Fran: Oh, yes. But we don’t give the children medicine. We think laughter is the best medicine. It’s very important for them to laugh, smile and enjoy themselves.

Interviewer 【小题3】

Fran: I’ve been a clown doctor for three years, and before I became a clown doctor I was a teacher for ten years. You see, I really enjoy working with children, but I wanted to do something a bit different.

Interviewer: 【小题4】

Fran: I’ve worked here since last year. I worked as a clown doctor for a year in Australia, and then I came to London last December, for Christmas, I go to six different hospitals in London and I see a lot of kids, and teenagers, too.

Interviewer: 【小题5】

Fran: Well, the best thing is seeing the children laugh. But I also love working with the doctors and nurses. Lots of them say they laugh, too, when they see the children having fun.

Interviewer: I think you do really wonderful work.

Fran: Thanks and good luck.

I left school when I was 18 years old and I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. So I started working on my parents’ farm. I helped look after the animals and learned how to grow plants. 【小题1】

After two years, I decided to try something new. I always loved art and design (设计), so I wanted to find a creative job. But I was worried about telling my parents about my decision. They needed me to help on the farm. How could I tell them that I wanted to leave? I put off talking to them about it for a few months. But finally, I knew that I had to tell them my decision. 【小题2】 In fact, they wanted to sell the farm and relax for a few years, but they were worried about telling me! It turned out that we just didn’t share our decisions because we loved each other.

A few months later, my parents sold the farm and moved to a house near the sea. 【小题3】 They have made new friends and go for long walks on the beach every day. And as for me, I went back to college and studies design. 【小题4】 I design and build houses for people. I love my job because I get creative every day.

You know that I am always looking for new ways to make money.

【小题1】 Lots of my neighbors are looking for someone to help with their gardens. It’s a great job.

【小题2】 The first job goes very well. I cut the grass and clean up the garden. Mrs. Brown is very happy. She pays (付费) me 10 yuan. 【小题3】 Mrs. Jones has a big garden and it is very dirty. When I clean up the garden, she pays me 15 yuan.

My last job is at my neighbor’s house. 【小题4】 My parents pay for a new one. I will pay them from my wages (工资).

【小题5】 I have to make enough money to pay for the window!
