Which is better, writing or typing (打字)? These days, many college students have given up taking class notes by hand. 【小题1】, they type on laptops (手提电脑) because they think typing is fast, they can write more notes. But a new research has 【小题2】 that taking notes by hand is in fact better for long-term memory.

In this research, students were asked to listen to a teacher. Some took notes by typing on a laptop. The 【小题3】 took notes by writing them down. Then they were given a test. Both groups got almost the same result in 【小题4】 the facts. But students who typed their notes did worse on conceptual (需要理解的) questions.

Why is it like this? The answer is that writing by hand is slow, 【小题5】 it gives the students more time to think about the questions they don’t understand. And they are 【小题6】 to write down the main points. “This leads to a deeper understanding,” say the scientists.

So if you want to remember something better, write it by hand!

Memory is very important. It helps you remember who you are, where you live, what you have learnt and what you plan 【小题1】 (do) in the future.

So, how can you improve your memory?

It is important to exercise your brain. For example, you can do new 【小题2】 (thing) and change your daily habits.
