Are you interested in space? Do you want to be an astronaut? Let’s come close to them and know more.

Can anyone be an astronaut? Of course not. You don’t have to have a science degree, but most astronauts do. Most of them are pilots too. Life in a spaceship is hard so you must have a healthy body and mind. You need to be easy-going and helpful to spend so much time in a small space with other people.

What’s the training like? People have to train for a year to learn how to stay healthy and safe. They practice space walking and living in zero gravity (重力). They train in difficult situations to learn how to solve problems and to work on a team. Everyday life like eating, washing and sleeping can be difficult in a spaceship. There is no running water to wash hands. It’s hard to enjoy the dry food that astronauts have to eat. And to sleep, you must cover your eyes because the sun rises every 90 minutes on the International Space Station. You also must tie yourself to something, so you don’t fly away!

What health problems do astronauts have? Astronauts often get backache (背痛) because you grow in space-up to 8 centimeters! It’s also common to feel terrible at the beginning. So you must do a lot of exercise in space to stay healthy. And you must have vitamins to take the place of fresh fruit and vegetables.

These days more and more students like to have parties on weekends. But is it good or bad for them? Different people have different ideas. Some people are for it, while others are against (反对) it.

Some people think having a party is good for students to know and understand each other well. On weekdays, students are always studying. They don’t have any time to have fun. They seldom (很少) sing or dance. And they have no time to communicate. A party can make them relaxed and happy. And each family has one child. The children need to make friends with each other.

However, some parents are against having parties. They think it’s a waste of money and time. Students always buy many expensive gifts so they will spend a lot of money. Because students don’t make money, they have to ask their parents for money. And some students are always serious about the parties. They spend too much money and time on them. Some parents say nothing can be done when the students get together and they are just for fun. They think students can’t pay more attention (注意力) to their studies in the following week.

When Goldie Nejat began developing robots in 2005, she spent much of her time knocking on doors to let people know how her robots worked but few showed interest.

“But now, it’s different,” says Nejat. “People calling from around the world ask when my robots are going to be ready.”

Nejat’s robots are made to fill an increasing need: care-giving for the old. The population of the people over age 80 will be 426 million in 2050, three times larger than that now.

Some have worried that care-giving robots might make human interaction (互动) less and cause more humans to lose their jobs. “But the purpose is to support human care, not to replace it,” says Brian Scassellati. He has tested robots with different patients, and found that daily interaction with robots can help children with autism spectrum disorder (自闭症谱系障碍) improve social skills.

Well, of course, more robots have served the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. Cleaning robots can clean 8, 600 square meters of indoor large public areas such as staff area, athlete area and competition hall. And cleaning robots can adapt (适应) to large-traffic crowds and continuous (持续的) work. For those who are not wearing masks (口罩) in the area, reminding robots will come forward to remind them to wear masks. What’s more, delivery (配送) robots have entered the main media center restaurant, where each dish is made by robots. After the cooking is completed, the robots will take it to the ordering guests.

As a field grows, scientists try to understand human-robot relationships better. Do robots offer advantages because they don’t have feelings and don’t give opinions? “One thing is clear,” Scassellati says. “Many types of robots are quietly serving the people and the need for that will increase in the future.”

Many adults rely on caffeine to get them through the day. But that’s the last thing kids need, according to the governments of England and South Korea.

England woke up to the news that the government is preparing to ban the sale of energy drinks like Red Bull to children.

The ban only applies to England, but Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland can all follow if they wish. In March, several major supermarket chains announced they would ban the sale of energy drinks to children under 16. Meanwhile, South Korea announced plans to ban the sale of coffee in schools by September 14.

The first reason for the ban is the high level of caffeine in the energy drinks, which has been linked to health problems for children, including headaches and stomach aches, as well as sleep problems.

A 250ml can of Red Bull contains about 80mg of caffeine, almost the same as a similarly sized cup of coffee, but three times the level of Coca-Cola. Monster Energy, which is often sold in larger cans of 500ml, contains 160mg of caffeine.

Energy drinks often also have higher levels of sugar than soft drinks. Sugared energy drinks have 60% more calories and 65% more sugar than normal soft drinks and sugar is one of the largest causes of obesity (肥胖症).

British national official for education, Darren Northcott, described the drinks as “legal highs” that might cause kids not to behave themselves in schools.

In addition to preventing kids from getting caffeine and energy drinks, the South Korean government has also banned TV commercials for fast food, sugary snacks and high-caffeine drinks during times when most children’s programs air.

South Koreans drink an average of 181 cups of coffee a year, by far the most in Asia. That is more than the 151 consumed per person in the UK but less than the average of 266 cups in the US.

B.Energy Drinks Lead to Health Problems for Kids
C.Red Bull Says Goodbye to Kids
