There is a new rule(规定) for students. They need to run 1,500 meters each day. How do they like the new rule? Are they ready to run?

Wang Tao: I’m 12 years old. I’m from Beijing. As Grade 8 students, we usually run 50 meters, 200 meters or 400 meters in P.E. class, but never 1,500 meters. But I am OK with it. I can run 1,000 meters in 3 minutes.

Liu Lei: I’m 13 years old. I’m from Dalian. Many students worry about the new rule. We only run 400 meters in P.E. class. Some students say that they may feel tired and sleepy in class after running. But I think the new rule is a good idea. It can help us to keep in good health. Running can also make us active(活跃的) in the daytime.

Zhao Ming: I’m 14 years old. I’m from Qingdao. Students in our school run 600 meters in Grade 7 and 800 meters in Grade 8 in P.E. class. In winter, we run about four laps(圈) each day. That is close to 1,500 meters. I think it’s good for us. But my friend Li Hua doesn’t think so. She hates running.

My name is Tony, and this is my classroom. How do you like it? I like it very much.

My classroom is bright and clean. On the back wall you can see a map. It’s a map of China, but you can’t see our school on the map because it’s too small. Some paintings are beside the map. In our class many students can paint. And there is a new soccer ball in our classroom, but you can’t see it. It’s under the teacher’s desk. Many boys in our class like playing soccer after class. I often play it with my classmates and I play it very well.

At school the teachers and students always wear school clothes. Our teachers are very friendly. We have our lessons from eight o’clock in the morning to four o’clock in the afternoon. After class we like playing games. We can also join different kinds of clubs. For example, I want to join the chess club.

I’m on duty this morning. I help my teacher prepare things. It’s time for class. I tell my teacher everyone is here and we are all ready for the class.

This is my first day in our new school. In the morning, I help my new teacher Mr. Hu put some new English textbooks into a big box. And then I carry it to the classroom. The box is very heavy.

I walk very slowly(慢) with the big heavy box in my arms. A boy runs very fast to me. He can’t stop(停止). Oh, dear! The box drops on the floor and there are books everywhere on the floor.

“I’m very sorry.” The boy says again and again. He helps me pick up(捡起) all the books. He then helps me carry the books to our classroom.

Who is he? He is my classmate. His name is Jim. He comes to China with his father. He comes from England.
