The Mid-Autumn Festival, also 【小题1】 as the Moon Festival, is a traditional festival for both the Han people and minority nationalities（少数民族）. In China and throughout many Asian 【小题2】 , people celebrate the Harvest Moon, 【小题3】 the night of the full moon is a symbol of completeness and abundance（富裕）.

This festival celebrates three fundamental concepts（基本观念） that are 【小题4】 connected: gathering, thanksgiving and praying. It is a day for families to hold a family reunion and spend time 【小题5】 together. Celebrations kick off with a 【小题6】 meal at home, similar to a western Christmas or Thanksgiving dinner. Then everyone steps out to enjoy local 【小题7】 together such as singing, dancing, and flying sky lanterns.

Mooncakes remain one of the 【小题8】 traditional ways to celebrate the festival. Eating mooncakes while watching the full moon is a central part of the Mid-Autumn Festival throughout China, and is a symbol of family unity（团结）. At the very beginning, mooncakes were served 【小题9】 a sacrifice to the Moon (祭月). The word “mooncake” first appeared in the Southern Song Dynasty, even though the mooncakes were not round at that time. Nowadays, mooncakes 【小题10】 as presents to our loved ones and they represent people’s wishes to be together during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

I remember the year when I was seven years old. I 【小题1】 a pretty hair clip (发夹) from a girl in my dance class. My parents found the shiny clip was not 【小题2】 by them. So they sat me down on the floor of our study and explained 【小题3】 I was wrong. What a bad end I would come to if I became a thief—people would not trust me any more.

More than thirty years on, the lesson has reminded me a lot. I’ve never taken anything that was not mine away. Once, I left a store wearing a pair of sunglasses I’d tried on and then I 【小题4】 gave it back. But that gave me the feeling of shame for months.

Though my childhood memories are not 【小题5】, such moments when my parents told me good values (价值观) are always in my mind. They provided a standard of good qualities: to put myself in others’ shoes and to control my greed (贪欲).

The social environment 【小题6】 our values, but families have the deeper effect on children. The right values from our parents can finally lead us to grow up.

I believe in truth because my parents raise me to do so, even though sometimes my opinions are different from theirs. I believe in 【小题7】 because my parents set me good examples. They cure the sick and visit the lonely. I believe in working hard because my parents devote themselves to the society. Good values from my family have shaped me. And I will pass them on to my kids.

The year 2021 was a difficult one for people from Zhengzhou. On July 20, when most people were ready to go traveling, 【小题1】 or to the movies, a 【小题2】 rainstorm in my hometown of Zhengzhou disrupted (打乱) everything. The heavy rain lasted 【小题3】 days, causing massive floods(洪水).

When the rain stopped, I went to the community volunteer 【小题4】 station. I wanted to do something to help 【小题5】 who suffered(遭受) from the natural disaster(灾害). From 2 to 7 p.m. each day, I loaded(装货) and unloaded supplies that would be 【小题6】 to flooded areas with other volunteers. I was 【小题7】 moved as I saw so many people—adults and teens—come to volunteer. When everyone put on the red vests(背心) and stood together, I could even see the shape of a big Chinese heart.

In 2022, I want to take on 【小题8】 social responsibilities instead of only focusing on my studies. I want to make more contributions to my community as a citizen(公民).
