The 19th Asian Games was held in Hangzhou, China in 2023. It was the largest and most technological Asian Games. The Games included many kinds of cutting-edge(前沿的) technologies to make players and watchers have safe and enjoyable experiences.

Facial recognition(人脸识别) technology was used to know about players and officials in order to make sure that only related people can enter Asian Games Village. The facial recognition system was connected with the event’s safety systems, allowing for a safer environment for all players.

Drones were used to learn about the event, both on and off the field. The drones were fixed with cameras and sensors (感应器) to provide a full view of the event for the watchers who watch the game on TV. The drones were able to notice any activity, as well as provide real-time events.

VR (Virtual Reality) was well used in every area of the Asian Games. With a pair of special glasses, players can train and compete in a virtual (虚拟的) world instead of going into the field. For watchers, it provided a chance to experience the players’ real training. All the people with VR glasses can enjoy the games in different places.

Teachers are important to students at school. They help students improve their studies in many ways. Some students like men teachers and others like women teachers. It was lucky for the students in some schools in South Korea(南朝鲜). They had special teachers—robot teachers.

“Robot teachers never get angry or speak unpleasant(使人不愉快的)words. They are popular among the students in some South Korean schools,” a reporter said.

The students were glad to answer the robot teachers’ questions in class. Scientists sent English teaching robots to three schools for eight weeks’ teaching and robot teachers teaching math science and art went to five schools in Seoul(首尔).

Scientists found that the English-teaching robots made the students become more interested in the language and more confident of themselves.

Scientists said that sending robot teachers to schools was helpful to the children in the countryside. They could learn a lot like the students in the city in this way.

The Hexa Plant is a six-legged robot that has been specially made to care for the potted (盆栽的) plant that it carries on top of its head. Using light and heat sensors (传感器), the robot has the ability to carry its plant in and out of the daylight. If the houseplant needs more sun, the Hexa will walk into the sunlight; if the houseplant is getting too hot, the Hexa will go back into the area that blocks direct light. The Hexa Plant will even do a little dance when it senses that the plant needs to be watered to warn its owner.

The robot was developed by the Vincross engineer and founder Sun Tianqi after he saw a dead sunflower siting in the darkness in a room back. “Plants only receive an action without responding,”Sun Tianqi wrote in a blog post. “Whether they are being cut, bitten, burned or pulled from the earth, or when they haven’t received enough sunshine, water, or are too hot or cold, they will hold still and take whatever is happening to them.”

According to Sun Tianqi, for billions of years, plants have never experienced movement of any kind, not even the simplest movement. In their whole lives, they stick to where they were born. Sun Tiangi continued, “Do they want to break their own settings or have a tendency (趋势) towards this? I do not know the answer, but I would love to try to share some of this human tendency and technology with plants. With the help of the robot, plants can experience the move.”

The Hexa Plant model robots are not for sale, though Vincross does sell a Hexa robot model. It is said that in the near future the robots can open up a new market to watch over our household plants.

Soon computers and other machines (机器) will be able to remember you by looking at your eyes! The program works because everyone's eyes are different. So in the future you won't have to remember a number when you want to use a machine or take money out of a bank. You'll just have to look at the machine and it will be able to tell who you are.
The eye-recognition (眼睛识别) program has already been tested in shops and banks in the USA, Britain, Spain, Italy and Turkey. Soon this technology (技术) will take the place of all other ways of finding out who people are.
However, scientists are also working on other systems. Machines will soon be able to know you from the shape of your face or hand or even your smell! We already have machines that can tell who you are from your voice or the mark made by your finger.
Eye-recognition is better than other kinds because your eyes don't change as you get older, and don't get dirty like hands or fingers, and even twins have different eyes. So the eye-recognition program can be up to 94% correct, depending on how good the technology is.
However, some other programs may only be 51% correct at present. In Britain, it was found that 91% of people who had tried it said that they liked the idea of eye-recognition.
In the future your computer will be looking at you in the eye. So smile!
