Hi, I’m Liu Han. I am in Xinhua Middle School in Jilin. In my school, music is not just for people who play an instrument. It is for everyone. We believe music is an important part of life and that everyone should have the right (权利) to enjoy it.
We have music lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Not everyone plays an instrument but everyone wants to learn a little bit about music. During our lessons, we learn about musicians like Beethoven and Schumann. We listen to their music and learn about their personal (个人) history.
Everyone can take part in the concerts in my school! Teachers give their students some percussion instruments (打击乐器) that are easy to play. A few friends of mine don’t play music. But they played these percussion instruments well for our concert. One of my friends said, “I felt like I was a star performer. It made me feel confident (自信) in front of people.”
We have many other musical activities. For example, last month, I took part in the Young Musician of the Year Competition this year. I played the piano and won the first prize.

For years, studies have looked into how classical music can influence a cow’s milk production. Researchers have found that cows produce more milk when listening to relaxing classical music. A farmer in Turkey has made sure of this finding. The farmer’s name is Mehmet Akgul.
“I thought that if listening to classical music could make people feel relaxed, why couldn’t it work on animals as well?”Akgul said.
Akgul played music for his cows and watched them carefully. He wanted to see whether the music would help his cows produce more milk. After a period of time, he was happy to see that their production of milk had been greatly increased. What’s more, the cows seemed to have fewer health problems. “It doesn’t matter what kind of feed(饲料) you give them. The most important thing is to make the cows feel relaxed,” Akgul said.
Akgul is now planning to give his cows massages(按摩). He knows how important animal welfare(福利) is to the success of farms. After all, happy cows produce more and better milk.
