Hi, I’m Liu Han. I am in Xinhua Middle School in Jilin. In my school, music is not just for people who play an instrument. It is for everyone. We believe music is an important part of life and that everyone should have the right (权利) to enjoy it.

We have music lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Not everyone plays an instrument but everyone wants to learn a little bit about music. During our lessons, we learn about musicians like Beethoven and Schumann. We listen to their music and learn about their personal (个人) history.

Everyone can take part in the concerts in my school! Teachers give their students some percussion instruments (打击乐器) that are easy to play. A few friends of mine don’t play music. But they played these percussion instruments well for our concert. One of my friends said, “I felt like I was a star performer. It made me feel confident (自信) in front of people.”

We have many other musical activities. For example, last month, I took part in the Young Musician of the Year Competition this year. I played the piano and won the first prize.
