My name is Jim Smith. I’m fifteen. I’m a middle school student. I eat some food for breakfast. I have milk, two eggs and an orange. For lunch, I have chicken and salad. And for dinner, I like vegetables and hamburgers. But my sister, Mary, doesn’t eat hamburgers. For breakfast, she only eats vegetables. And for dinner, she eats bread.

What dishes best represent (代表) the food of Hong Kong? In the eyes of Aiden Teng, the answer is street foods-egg waffles (鸡蛋仔), siu (烧卖), curry fish balls.

Egg waffles are his favorite. “When I feel hungry, they are always there.” Teng said. Teng sometimes has them with ice-cream. “Plain egg waffles are tasty enough.”   he said.

“However, in my daily life, I probably eat more boxed meal. The lunch boxes and dinners my parents cook for me are more Chinese style food such as char siu buo (叉烧包),” Teng said. In Hong Kong, it’s common for students to take lunch boxes to school.

When Teng’s parents cook at home, they usually cook traditional dishes. His favorite is soy sauce chicken(豉油鸡), which his family has at least once a week. “It tastes a little sweet. With spices like ginger (姜), the flavor is special.”

Another big part of Hong Kong’s food culture is din sum houses (点心房). “If we want to relax and kill time on weekends, we would go there. We can sit there to talk for two or three hours! Dishes there like har gau (虾饺) are great.”

A large number of people in the world eat fast food. Whenever you go into a fast food restaurant., you can see lots of people enjoying their meals there. But do you know which country people like fast food best?

The English people are the world’s biggest fans of fast food, while the French(法国人) are the least interested in quick meals, according to a survey done last year.

The survery（调查）of thirteen countries shows 45% of the English people say they can’t give up fast food because it’s delicious. And 44% of Americans and 37% of Canadians say the same.

The French, proud of their delicious and high class cuisine, don’t like fast food. 81% of them think it is unhealthy, followed by 75% of the Japanese.

How about the Chinese? How often do you have hamburgers or fried chicken? It doesn’t matter whether you like western fast food or Chinese food. The most important thing is to keep a balanced diet.
