Recently, a man introduced his latest invention to the world—an upside down hair—washing machine. The strange machine looks like an unside down table used to cure back pain, with a transparent tank fitted near the bottom｡

In order to show how it worked, the man lay on the table, clipping his nose and placing a plastic tube in his mouth to allow him to breathe under the water. After he turned on the machine, the table slowly moved backwards until his head was fitted into the tank. And after he opened a valve, water began to fill in the tank while a small board at the bottom started turning round and round rapidly, creating a current, which ensured that all of his hair was given a good wash. At last, after the water ran from the tank, hot air from the hair -drying system gave the man a perfect blow dry.

The man, who invented this interesting machine, is Geng Shuai, a 31-year-old DIY fan from Baoding, Hebei Province. He is famous for his inventions, such as a meat knife smartphone case, a BBQ football table and an earthquake-proof noodle bowl. Most of them are not useful but funny.

Geng may be a new kind of social media star whose calling card is his uncommonness. Most days he doesn't go to sleep until after midnight. He tries to come up with a new invention every week and to make videos three times a week. He makes about $ 150 every time he does a live broadcast. He can make enough money to support his family—his wife, their children and his brother.

There have been many great inventions that changed the way we live. The first great invention was one that is still very important today—the wheel. This made it easier to carry heavy things.

Then in the early 1800’s the world started to change. There was little unknown land left in the world. People didn’t have to explore(探测) much anymore. They began to work to make life better.

In the second half of the 19th century, many great inventions were made. Among them were the camera, the light and the radio. These all became a big part of our life today.

The first part of the 20th century saw more great inventions：the helicopter in1907, movies with sound in 1923. the computer in 1927, and jet planes in 1930. This was also a time when a new material was first made.   Nylon（尼龙）came in 1937. It changed the kind of clothes people wear.   

By this time most people had a very good life, and man has a desire to explore again. The world was known to man but the stars were not. Man began looking for ways to go into space. Russia made the first step. Then the United States took a step. Since then other countries, including China and Japan, have made their steps into space.   

New inventions will someday allow us to do things we have never yet dreamed of.

★a 500ml plastic cola bottle

★scissors

★colored markers（马克笔）

★a poster board

★glue

What to do:

Step 1 Clean the cola bottle from outside to inside and allow it to dry.

Step 2 Use markers to draw three small triangles and one large triangle on the poster board. Cut out the triangles.

Step 3 Roll the large triangle so that two of its sides touch and it forms a rocket’s nose cone, Glue the sides of the cone so that it holds its shape.

Step 4 Glue the nose cone to the bottom of the bottle to make the top of the rocket.

Step 5 Glue the smaller triangles to the other end of the cola bottle, around its opening. The triangles will be the tail fins.
