Do you have any brothers or sisters? A new study shows that “only children” are easy to become fat.
The study looks at 68 children aged from 5 to 7 years old. And 27% of them are “only children”. For three days, their parents and teachers write down the food they eat. The children’s mothers also answer questions about the family’s eating and drinking habits.
The researchers(研究人员)find that “only children” are easier to become fat than children with a brother or sister. They think that’s because of their bad eating habits. For example, families with only one child often have sugary drinks and eat meals in front of the TV.
Dr. Natalie Muth, a researcher on child health, also says “only children” are not very active, because they don’t have a brother or sister to play with. She says they may also have more food to eat.
