阅读短文,根据短文内容简要回答下列问题。

In the past years, it is always believed that robots cannot think like humans. In recent years, with the development of the technology, it seems not difficult for robots to think like us. Some people are worried that might happen in the future.

Where is the robot technology heading (朝向)? Can robots and humans work together?

Yes—they’re here to help humans
Robots were created by humans. Robots do jobs that are too dangerous for people to do by themselves. Although robots might take some people’s jobs, they will create new types of work, and they will probably create more jobs than those they take away. Besides, robots’ programme could actually make them more trustworthy (值得信任的) than humans, because they are not influenced by feelings.
No—humans should not trust robots
Robots are nearly controlling the world. Jobs that used to be done by humans are now being taken by robots. Although robots are under our control now, that might not always keep the same. An experiment (实验) found that some robots had learned how to lie (说谎) to each other. With the development of AI (人工智能), robots could start to act in their own interests.

Most of us spend all day at school or work. After a long and busy day, all we want to do is to return to a comfortable home. Smart technology can turn any home into a nicer place to live in.

Smart homes have been around for some time. Scottish company Pico Electronics invented a type of technology called X10 in 1975. It allows household devices (设备), such as lights and alarms, to communicate with each other by using radio waves.

Of course, 5G network connectivity has made smart homes more convenient. Perhaps the most widespread smart home technology is the voice-activated assistant(语音激活助手). Google Home allows users to control nearly any device in their home simply by speaking a few words. This is especially convenient for people with physical disabilities, as they can finish tasks without using their hands or walking around the house.

Common household devices can become “smart” as well. For example, a smart rubbish bin can memorize all the things you’ve thrown away and offer you a shopping list online, while a smart fridge can create dinner recipes (菜谱)according to the vegetables that are being kept inside.

But it’s not just about convenience. Smart homes are also good for the environment. By regularly checking your energy use and turning off lights and other devices that you’re not using, smart homes can lower how much electricity you use overall. Using less energy means that we make less pollution. That is good for the environment.

Nano-robots (纳米机器人)

In 2050, a small cloud floats (漂浮) through the air in a hospital room. In the room, a patient experiencing great pain from cancer(癌症), lies on a table. The cloud covers the patient's body and fills her lungs (肺). The cloud is not smoke or steam. It is made of millions of microscopic robots called nano-robots. These tiny robots move from cell (细胞) to cell in the patient's body, killing the cancer cells.

Fighting cancer with nano-robots is only an idea today, but scientists say that it would be possible in the future. Using nano-robots for good purposes such as fighting with disease or repairing the environment may be the solution to many of today's problems.

However, nano-robots could be a dangerous risk as well. Since nano-robots are so tiny, they will have to work in large teams of many thousands to many millions. For this reason, nano-robots will have to be programmed to build themselves. Scientists will not have the ability to build millions of nano-robots one by one. This ability to reproduce is making some scientists worried. What if something goes wrong in the programming? Quite a lot of crazy nano-robots would be far worse than any disease. Some people think that if they get out of control, nano-robots could kill the world.

What should be done? Should we continue researching nano-robots or should we search for other methods? This is one of the many difficult decisions that we have to make in the future.

Paperless homework will affect students’ handwriting
A growing number of primary schools in Shanghai are now encouraging “paperless” homework. Instead of writing with a pen, children can finish their homework simply by “surfing and typing” on their iPad screens.
Many people welcome the use of this new technology in schools. And it isn’t difficult to understand why digital homework could be the next big thing in education: it reduces waste; makes it easier for teachers to collect homework; and now that everything else is digitalized, homework should too.
But there’s an overlooked downside to online homework, as it shows an alarming trend(趋势): how technology is affecting physical handwriting.
In today’s digital age, handwriting is already a weakening skill. Can you remember the last time you used a pen? For me, it was when I had to fill out a form at work. To be honest, I couldn’t write quite a few characters and had to type them on my iPhone to remind me of how to write them correctly. I know I’m not alone. There are more saying they share similar embarrassment (尴尬) when asked to write by hand.
In a time when computers, smart phones and keyboards are widely used in the world, is handwriting even important? The answer is yes. Handwriting plays an important role in the learning process. Writing a character is more difficult than typing. It requires the body and mind work together actively. So for school-age children, writing not only allows them to memorize characters, but also trains their brains the way typing can’t.
Too many children, lost in technology, lie on a sofa or in bed with their smartphones or iPads — a seldom mentioned side effect of modern technology, which may lead to physical problems later.
All said, I’m not saying that digital homework should be canceled. Digitalization is an unstoppable trend. But for courses such as Chinese and English language, I hope to see digital homework introduced later into the courses, at least after children have had the ability to write characters and spell words well.
