Yesterday we visited Red Star Farm in the countryside. It was quite exciting. There were many robots working there. And the farmers grew quite a lot of flowers around the farm. We did many interesting things there. And we learned a lot about farming. Every year many visitors come here.
In the morning, we milked cows and fed chickens first. Then we rode horses. At the beginning, the horses ran very fast. The guide worried about us a lot, so he made the horses slow down. I thought the horses were quite lovely, because they could hear and understand the guide’s order.
At noon, we had lunch on the farm. The food was quite delicious. It wasn’t expensive, and it was really cheap. In the afternoon, we visited the painting museum near a fire station. We were interested in everything in the museum. And the guide taught us how to draw a horse. When we got back, it was dark. We were tired, but happy. All in all, we enjoyed everything there.

Thanks to the Belt and Road Initiative(一带一路), my mother’s university has a Polish Research Center. I got to meet a boy named Tomek. He came to China with his mother from Poland(波兰) this summer vacation. We were so excited to meet each other. He found it interesting to learn Chinese and Chinese culture. I even taught him some Ningbo dialect(方言). It was a fun experience for me.
Then I began to wonder how these two countries, thousands of kilometers apart, are able to be closely linked today. My mother told me it is because of the Belt and Road Initiative. More than 2,000 years ago, Chinese people explored and opened up routes of trade and cultural exchanges. This was called the Silk Road. In 2013, President Xi Jinping came up with the idea of building the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. It is a great project.
I live in Ningbo, which is s starting point for the maritime Silk Road. I want to to go to other countries taking part of the Belt and Road Initiative, including Russia, Pakistan and Poland. I want to make many friends like Tomek from these countries. I want to bring Chinese gifts to foreign friends and tell them stories about China. Also, I want to see the beautiful views around the world.

Liam Garer was 17 years old when he stood at Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, pointed his bike south and started cycling. On January 10,2023,527 days later, he arrived in Ushuaia—the world’s southernmost city, in the south American country of Argentina. He cycled 32, 000 km through 14 countries, becoming the youngest person ever to do so.
After finishing high school, Garner didn’t want to go to college right away and he wanted to learn more about the world. Then, someone advised him to read the book—To Shake The Sleeping Self. It tells the story of a man who biked from Oregon to Patagonia. After reading it, Garner kept thinking to himself, “If that man could do it, why can’t I?” So, he decided to give it a try.
Garner camped from Alaska all the way to Central America. After that, he stayed in hostels (招待所) and strangers’ homes as he cycled through South America. He advised everyone to see the world if possible. Although he experienced lots of difficulties along the way, he believed that nothing was more important than hope.
So what’s next for Garner? Well, he’s not going to fly home. He plans to send his bike home and walk back from Argentina.
