In Japan, Children’s Day is celebrated on the fifth day of May. But the festival is mainly celebrated by boys, so it is usually called Boys Day. It is a day of wishing for the health and happiness of children.

On this day, the Japanese people eat Kashiwamochi and Chimaki. Kashiwamochi is a rice cake filled with red beans in oak (橡树) leaves while Chimaki is a rice cake in bamboo leaves.

Families hang up (悬桂) huge carp-shaped flags (鲤鱼旗) for their children outside their houses. The flags have some colours, and each colour stands for (代表) a member of the family. Luckily, I was able to make a video call with my parents on the eve of the festival, celebrating together. I missed them so much. I really wanted to have a big dinner and watch the Spring Festival Gala(春晚)with my parents at that time.
