Whats going to happen in the future? Will robots control our planet? Will computers become smarter than us? Not likely. But here are some things that scientists say are most likely to happen in 10 to 30 years from now, according to the BBC.

Digital money

We used to pay with cash for everything we bought. Now when we use a credit card to shop online, money is spent without us seeing it. That means we are already using digital money. Using a card is much easier than searching our pockets for change. It is also safer than crying a lot of cash.

When ATM cards were fist introduced, they were not accepted everywhere. But now its hard to live without them. It’s reported that people in Sweden completely stopped using cash last year, and the US might be next.

Bionic(仿生的)eye

It’s no longer something only in a science fiction movie. People who are blind may have a chance to get their sight back—by wearing bionic eyes.

A blind eye can no longer sense light, but a bionic eye can use a camera to “see” environment and send data(数据)to the mind. Now the bionic eye only allows patients to see lights and unclear shapes. A high resolution(高清的)image could be just a few years away.

Self-driving cars

Unlike a human driver, a self-driving car won’t get distracted(分心)by phone call, the radio or something outside the window. Sensors(探测器)and cameras on the car would allow it to reduce the number of road accidents. You could even take a nap while the car drives itself. In the future, driverless cars would be widely accepted.

Have you ever shouted at your computer because it wasn’t working? 【小题1】 But AI researchers have been working on computers that can argue and perhaps even win debates (辩论) with humans.

Only 20 percent said the same about Natarajan.

According to Scientific American, results show that the system is able to form logical statements (逻辑的陈述). However, winning a debate is never the researchers’ goal.【小题5】 “It can debate both sides, so it can very quickly help you understand both sides of the problem, thus you can have a wider view of the problem and make a more thoughtful decision,” Aharanoy said.

Most people have map apps on their phones that can show their locations and guide them to where they want to go. But how do these app systems know your location at any time or place? They find you by using satellite navigation system.

A navigation system uses groups of satellites to find the user’s location. This location information is then sent to a receiver.

The first satellite navigation system is the Global Position System (GPS), which belongs to the United States. It is the world’s famous navigation system. But China’s satellites are important for improving the navigation system. Beidou is larger than GPS in size.

China sent Beidou’s first navigation satellite into space in 2000. China also became the third country to build a navigation system after the United States and Russia. As of right now, over 30 countries in Africa and the Middle East are using the Beidou system.

With its world-leading technology, Beidou is leading Chinese people to a better life in different areas. For example, over 6.2 million vehicles in China are using Beidou for navigation.

At the Beijing Daxing International Airport, Beidou has been used to keep track of vehicles indoors and outdoors. Each baggage cart has Beidou to help passengers get their baggage faster.

For a navigation system, the number of satellites is important for improving the system’s positioning accuracy. The more satellites, the more accurate the positioning is. The satellite navigation system is useful in many ways.
