For convenience, plenty of people prefer having a takeaway to cooking at home. Now there is an app through which people can enjoy delicious and cheap takeaway food.

Too Good To Go, an app being used in the UK, allows users to order leftover(剩余的) food at a low price from restaurants. The purpose is to help cut down food waste, as lots of restaurants usually throw away the food that can still be eaten at the end of the day. Users just need to pick a restaurant and pay through the app. Then they pick up their food at planned time usually around closing time or after peak meal time.

“Food waste is one of the biggest problems we have.” one creator of the app said. “The restaurant industry is wasting about 600，000 tons of food each year.” By the end of August, Too Good To Go had helped save about 600 meals in the UK.

Users also have the choice to give meals to people who are in need by donating(捐赠)one British pound or more through the app. By the end of August, more than 1，100 meals had been donated.

Too Good To Go isn't the first app to try to deal with food waste. In Spain, the Yo No Desperdicio app allows people to exchange leftover food with each other. In the US, the Food Cowboy app allows food shops to sell “ugly vegetables” that most customers won't buy to charities and food banks where people there may need them. In this way, much food can be saved.

According to a professor in the UK, emojis(表情符号) are developing faster than any other language in Britain. These images(图案) first appeared in Japanese mobile phones in the 1990s and are now very popular.

Why do we love them so much?

We really seem to like “big red heart” emojis! But why? They let us have fun and make people laugh. In the UK, the most-used emojis are “face with tears of joy”, and “love heart”.

Emojis also play a role in promoting diversity(多样性) and representation(代表性).

Emojis now come in five different skin colors to represent different countries. There is also an emoji of a woman wearing a headscarf, which came out after a German teenager campaigned(发起运动) for an emoji to represent her.
